You don't like onions? Gimme.

Huh?

Hindi ko pa napo-proseso ang sinasabi ng text ay lumingon na agad ako sa katabi ko. I saw him sitting properly, AirPods on hands and also his open phone kung saan nakikita pa ang text message na sinend niya sa akin and his puffy eyes are eyeing the onions left from the burger I ate on the burger wrapper in between of us.

Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay, inabot ko ang paper bag na nasa gitna rin naming dalawa na para sa kanya and handed it to him, I don't think he's fully awake yet, when our eyes met he accepted the paper bag I'm offering and then he eyed the onions again.

"Akina," he said quietly, his voice was deep and quiet, kakagising nga lang pala.

Inabot ko rin sa kanya ang wrapper na may mga onions na hindi ko ginalaw, he then put his things down on the seat and replaced them with the food reserved for him and he started eating.

Kumunot ang noo ko ng mapapansin kong lumiit na ang buhok niya, his hair was still long last night, did he just cut it off?

He looks good on it though, not gonna lie, he looks fresh but just woken up, he looks far from what he looked like last night.

Anong klaseng agenda ba ang in-attendan nila kaninang umaga bago kami umalis?

Huh, never mind.

Pinabayaan ko siyang kumain at mag-tulala habang ako bumalik sa kanina kong ginagawa which is reading and listening to some instrumental music. I heard na malapit na rin naman kami sa location kaya sinulit ko na ang pagbabasa.

"What are you reading?" I heard him ask quietly.

I looked at him briefly and smiled, "Bible," and then stuck my eyes at my screen and continued reading it.

I never heard him say anything after that and I let it go. I get that kind of reaction all the time when people ask me what I'm reading, maybe they're expecting I'm gonna answer something about fiction or romance novels, but when I give them the true answer there are always no follow-up questions.

"You didn't bring your actual book?"

My finger stopped from scrolling to the next page and looked up at him, he was just eyeing his food as he chewed.

"I don't usually bring it with me if I'm going to some places other than church," I smiled at him slightly.

He slowly nodded and then turned his eyes at me.

"Okay."

I slowly bring my eyes back to the screen of my phone and will just finish this chapter before finally hiding my phone since sumisigaw na si Madrous na malapit na kami and how bored he already is.

By the time na makarating kami sa location ay natapos na rin kumain katabi ko, people in front of us started to finally get out of the car at sumunod na rin ako.

Kanya kanya kami ng kuha ng mga bagahe namin ng may mauna sa akin at inagaw ang luggage ko.

"Ako na," said Jathen and just put the strap of my gym bag over his shoulder and to the other his own bag.

Napako ang paa ko sa harapan ng kotse at pinanood ko lang siyang mag-tuloy tuloy sa pagpasok do'n sa bahay kung saan kami mags-stay without even looking back.

"What's wrong, Ithiel?"

Scalsky turned at me as he closed the back of the car and stared at me with worried eyes, marami rin siyang dala dalang bag.

"A-ah wala, si Jathen kasi kinuha bigla mga gamit ko." he then glances to where Jathen already is and smirked tapos pinalakad niya na ako at sinabayan.

"Si Jathen ba? 'Yaan mo 'yan, tutal alam niyan ginawa niyang istorbo sa 'yo kagabi, bumabawi lang 'yan, nag-sorry na ba?" I shook my head and chuckled.
