Friday evening comes around fast, Dad is parked outside of the hotel waiting for Mason and I. He offered to pick us up, instead of us renting a car like last time. Mom is sitting besides him in the passenger seat, smiling gleefully. Mason and I put our bags in the trunk, open the car doors, and get in. Of course he sits next to me, because where else could he sit?
Mom makes conversation pretty easy with Mason. You know, asking him about what it's like to film a movie. What it was like to win the Oscar. Does he take it everywhere he goes? How often does he get free stuff? This takes up the car ride, and before I know it we're already at the house. I get out of the car as fast as I can, so I don't have to hear one more question about Mason Pierce. I feel like ever since I got casted in this show, it's always about Mason Pierce. Slowly, it's starting to eat at me. And the fact my mom is now doing it too, doesn't help.
"Why don't you show Mason where the guest room is Ash?" Mom says as we all walk through the front door.
I lead him up the stairs and down the hallway into his room.
"Well here you are, this is where you'll be staying for the weekend. The restroom is across the hall, and my room is right next to it. So if you need anything just let me know'' I say as we set his stuff down.
"Thank you, I mean it. Maybe we can find something to do?" Mason says, looking over to me. "Like, we can see a movie or get dinner. Just a thank you for letting me join you for the weekend."
"That's very sweet, but you don't hav-" I try to finish, but Mason interrupts me.
"Hey, you said you would show me around a bit. So think of it as that too!" I guess Mason is right, the point of him being here this weekend is so he's not by himself in a hotel room doing nothing. I feel as if I do owe it to him. Plus, he doesn't know anything about this area, and I can't leave him high and dry knowing nothing about it.
"Fine, we can go to the movies." It accidentally comes out dry, and I'm still praying that it's because I'm tired.
"And dinner! Please, my treat." He practically pleads.
"Fine, and dinner. But I think I've earned a nap, sooo" I gesture asking permission to leave the room by inching out the door.
"Oh of course, is 6 okay though?" Mason asks.
"That should work. See you then." I say, forcing a laugh, so I sound more enthusiastic and not irritated as I have been.
Of course, now it's hard for me to nap. All I can think about is hanging out with Mason. I don't know why, but I do, and my mind is racing. It's really annoying, to just lay here and have him take up my mind for no reason. I don't think I like him, I mean he's definitely the definition of cute. Anyone would be able to say that, you don't have to even be interested in men to realize it.
What am I thinking? I'm never gonna be his type. He's not into guys, and he was with a girl. As far as I'm concerned there has been no reports of this man being into men. And I wouldn't be shocked by that. I mean he is really straight acting. Though I know I shouldn't assume that just because a guy acts straight, means he is. But like, again, he's had girlfriends in the past.
"Mason is charmer, huh?" Mom says leaning into my door frame.
"Yeah, I guess." I say, trying to turn over on my bed, facing away from her. Signaling that I'm trying to sleep, but I know it will mean nothing to mom.
"I think he's a nice boy, it must be fun being in fake love with a man like him." mom says walking over, sitting at the edge of my bed.
"I don't know about that." I say.
