I knew what I wanted for my birthday this year. From my boyfriend anyway. Jax knew it too, at least I think he did. Tomorrow was my birthday, and I couldn't be more excited. The wait was almost unbearable. I sat on one of the kitchen stools in front of the counter. My boyfriend, Jax, of about three and a half years stands in front of me, making me the pizza of my choice.
"You know," he says, "I think you should just relax all day tomorrow. Let me go get some snacks and some more pizza, do some things and maybe cuddle while watching Netflix." He turns and smirks at me, his dark brown shaggy hair falls in his face.
"Maybe we will." I smile. "But we should go to dinner or something. We should go out to dinner, have some fun."
He smiles and shakes his head while chuckling a little. "We can do whatever you want, sweetheart. You want to go to dinner, we go to dinner. It will be perfect for the present, too."
That's when my heart jumped.
Was he really going to do it? Was he going to ask to marry me?
I smile to myself, looking down at my feet. I fix my shirt a little, looking back up at Jax, who is now closer to me. He looks at me and and smiles. "I love you, you know." He says. "I know. I love you too." He nods his head and then walks back over to the oven, where he is cooking the "home made" pizza.
I spy a pre-made pizza package in the trash "You got that from Walmart, didn't you?" I laugh. He turns to me, almost shocked. "N-no..." He stutters, his face turning pink. "You lair! You bought it from Walmart!" I laugh harder as he walks over to me and grabbing my wrists.
"No. I didn't get it from Walmart." He says, laughing a little himself. "Oh really?" I say, "I doubt it. " He throws me over his shoulder, my head hanging over behind him. I hit his back and laugh/scream at him to let me go.
"Jax! Jax!" I scream. "Emily! Emily!" He screams back in a high pitch voice, obviously mocking me. "Jax." I say seriously. He stops and tries to look behind him to look at me, but can't bend his neck back that far so he sets me down.
"What is it, Princess?"
"What're you going to get me for my birthday tomorrow?" I smile at him. He rolls his eyes and wraps an arm tight around my neck. "I tell you what." He says, "Tomorrow, when its your birthday, I will tell you after you get your present."
"Wow that helps." I roll my eyes now and then shake my head, laughing.
He looks down at me and then puts a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear.
"I love you, Jax."
"I love you too."
He picks me up again, this time bridal-style, and then takes me upstairs to our room. He walks in and immediately starts kissing me. "Jax." I say, stroking my thumb along his cheek. "Yes?" He replies to me. "The pizza." I reply shortly. He groans and collapse on top of me swishing me.
