I paced the floor, I was anxious to see the boys, but Sullivan seemed to calm my nerves. "Mhm?" I glanced at him, my brown eyes wavered but ended up settling on Sullivan's brown eyes. "I'm fine." I answered. However, I was trying to think of a way to be able to leave the game... maybe once we defeated Rafe? I didn't know, this was like Jumanji. Oh, crap. I had to help Sam and Nate with finding the treasure. That was great. Flinching, I glanced over my shoulder at the two dressed up figures.
"𝑺𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚?"
"𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒃𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔?"
"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕?"
"𝑵𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒔."
With both of them embracing each other, I quietly watch them before looking over at Samuel, my eyes glued to him. Finally looking away before he could notice, I fixed my earrings and fluffed up my romper. The dark maroon color blended in with the dark colors of the estate. Eying Sam's face again, I flushed. Why did I do that? Why was I so quiet. As Sully and Nate walked out, Sam grabbed my arm. His fingers dug into my upper arm.
"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏?"
"Nothing. Why?" I feigned a smile. I was still trying to figure out how to get home. Our eyes locked again. Watching him deeply, I stepped a bit closer before tugging my arm softly out of his grip. "C'mon, let's see what Sullivan wants." I walk off, hearing a sigh behind me. I smirked to myself, then smiled at Nate. "What's going on down there?"
"𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒖𝒚𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆."
"Yeah, and everyone has been more intrigued." I stated, standing next to Sullivan. My stomach dropped as I heard Samuel stepping up beside me. It was crazy I was here.... I was enjoying it, actually. My stomach started to make some noises, and I was nervous. It's nervous around Sam, mostly.
"𝑯𝒐𝒘'𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒕? 𝑾𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒊𝒕."
(𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒇𝒇)
"𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒚𝒆-𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔."
"No kidding." I chuckled softly. Bumping into Sam softly, I glance up at him for a second before looking back down at the auctioneer. "Could there be a way we could -"
"𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇𝒇?"
Sam's voice ran into my ear. "Exactly. Is that possible?" I asked. My eyes narrowed softly when the estate layout was laid on the table.
"𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒃 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇𝒇."
"That would only allow a few seconds of darkness."
"𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈... 𝒘𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔."
"Except, we can't be that close without being noticed." I watched as Samuel flirted a little with the waitress. I furrowed my brows. Scoffing, I playfully stared at him.
"𝑨 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒅."
I rose one brow, then shoved him softly. "Seriously?" I was feigned being shocked. "I guess it could work, unless -" Hearing Nathan, I nodded and smiled slightly.
"𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝑰'𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓?"
...
"𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒑𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕."
"Alright then, let's get this show on the road." I stepped past Samuel and joined Sully. Walking with him, I spoke. "Cellers this way, boys." I led the way with Sully, keeping some distance from the brother's, I felt most comfortable besides Sullivan. It's probably because he was close to a grandpa figure. Walking through the estate, I quietly looked around before startling when I felt a rough textured hand touch mine. "Sam." I said softly, I lifted my gaze as we went downstairs. "I'm perfectly fine. If you keep asking, I won't be."
"𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒖𝒔. 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔."
I kept quiet as we walked across the floor together by the entrance. Holding his hand was becoming a comfort. Before I was pulled into the game, I had been stuck in a rut. It was the first week of summer, and I hadn't had a full break since the summer before, so this felt nice. As I was thinking about that, I was brought back into reality when Sam's hand tugged at mine. "Mhm?"
"𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉, 𝒕𝒐 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂. 𝑾𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒓."
"Ohh." I replied. Letting go of Samuel's hand, I moved off to the side. "It's locked? Great, how are we supposed to get in there now?" My eyes faltered at the lock. However, they widened when the door started to open. Walking away, I joined Sam's side, my fingers brushing up against his. "What?" A smirk formed on my lips, then I looked over as the waiter walked off. "Keycard, back left pocket."
"𝑰 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒕."
"Nate, are you sure -" I backed down and backed away, watching.
—
With Nathan's success, I joined his side and watched as he swiped the card through the reader. "Got it? Awesome!" I whispered, backing up, I looked to my left to see the ear peices.
"𝑾𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆."
Grasping one, I started to place it in my ear. I stood still for a moment, smoothing my romper out. "Coming, boy's." Nodding to Sullivan, I followed the boys into the celler. Here we go.
