The sun hadn't even been out for that long and Ivan could feel his tank top getting soaked. His fellow students who sat next to him under the shade of one of the trees in the dojo weren't doing any better. It was just 8 in the morning for God's sake. He was used to California being hot in the summer but today it felt like someone just left the door to hell open.
"Oh God it's so hot..." Demetri groaned, basically wiping his forehead on the shoulder of Sam who was next to him. "I'm sweating in places I didn't even know I had pores"
"Dude, that's just gross and rude" Ivan looked at Demetri weirdly as Sam wiped her shoulder on Demetri's shirt.
"Alright guys, get out from under that tree, it's time to get to work" Daniel walked towards the students.
"Work.. in this condition?" Ivan furrowed his eyebrows.
"Can we please take it easy, Mr Larusso?" Robby added as they all slowly got up. "It's like a hundred degrees out"
"Are you kidding?" Daniel replied. "This heatwave is a gift. Today you're going to experience Shochu Geiko"
"Like the car insurance?" Chris asked.
"It means summer training" Ivan corrected. Though he wondered why this particular exercise was called that.
"Correct" Daniel pointed at the Latino. "It's a Japanese exercise where you train during the hottest days of the year. It's about pushing yourself to your limits"
'So we're gonna train like Might Guy and Lee, just great'
"The fight isn't always gonna come when it's 75 degrees and breezy" Daniel continued. Ivan nodded at that, he had a solid point.
"Aren't we supposed to avoid fighting?" Sam asked.
"Sometimes you can't" Daniel sighed. "Sometimes the fight is gonna come to you.. and I want you to be ready. So today we're gonna see what Miyagi-Do is made of"
Ivan and Sam looked at each other with a single thought in mind
