(Season 2) Episode 7: Confession Complications

Daniel wakes up on a cloudy November 5 and feeling a tardy sensation, he decides to go to a café and wash it away with coffee.

As he arrives and puts an order for a caramel macchiato, he waits at his table, he then sees Xavier at the café as well. He appeared to be in deep thought, eating a cream-cheese bagel and drinking hot-cocoa.

"Xavier, what're you doing here?"

"Ah! Daniel, just who I wanted to see, come sit down with me."

Daniel would do so and Xavier talks about a private topic, something he's shared with no one, not even his siblings or guardians.

"Listen, I want to talk to you about Rosalina."

"Rosalina? What about her?"

"I want to ask her one day to be my girlfriend, I want to start building a bond between us, what do you recommend?"

"Easy, tickets to a movie, time for just you two around a place like a mall or a carnival, something like that."

"Thanks for your help! Say, wanna go for a small walk? It's pretty relaxing."

"Need to do my daily cardio, for sure."

Xavier and Daniel go for a walk and talk after Daniel gets his caramel macchiato. They walk and talk for a while, eventually, they sit down at a bench of the park, but then they spot something surprising. They see Rosalina walking with a boy, holding his arm.

Xavier then runs away as Daniel tries to stop him, but he runs into a crowded street, with no clear sight of him, he loses track of him. He gives up trying to find him and goes home. But the events of today haunted him all the way until a few days later when it was Monday of November 9.

Daniel goes to Yune's apartment and waits outside her door as he usually does. But when Yune walks out, Daniel brings her out of the apartment and tells her what happened a few days ago.

"Yeesh, she already has a boyfriend?"

"I think, but that hurt Xavier real bad."

"We should try to console him, well, if we even can..."

"Yeah, that's probably our best choice."

As they arrive in school, they try to talk to Xavier, but he keeps avoiding them, trying to avoid any reminders of what he saw last Saturday.

"Nope, he keeps running, it's no use."

"Hang on, if you aren't sure if Rosalina is seeing someone, we should try and ask her."

"Maybe, if we can confirm she's not seeing anyone, that could get Xavier to stop this."

So they waited until the end of the day, Rosalina looked happy, but to Daniel, it seemed like a mere façade. Eventually, Yune and Daniel confront Rosalina directly and get straight to the point. "Hey, question, is that guy your boyfriend?" Yune asks to Rosalina, she responds that he was and asked why.

"Daniel told me you don't seem to be happy around him..."

Rosalina calls Daniel an analyst nut, but doesn't deny the fact, after all, he is right.

"'Kay, you spotted it. Initially, I liked him a lot, but over the months we spent together, he's gotten boring..."

"Well... why haven't you broken up yet?"

"I'm not sure how to go about it..."

"What? Why?"

"He's a kind person, he's kinder than anyone I know, including you."

"But I don't have the guts to tell him that he's boring, I don't want to hurt him even more than I have to."

"Well, if that's the case, I won't pry any further."

"Could you just tell us where Xavier lives then?"

Rosalina agrees to tell them and sends both of them Xavier's address and later after school, they inform their parents that they will be back late at night. Saying it was for a project so they have an excuse to stay outside for however long they need to.

"Why didn't you tell Rosalina what was happening?"

"I recognize her boyfriend, he's actually in my class. He told the class he wants to be a detective and he's dead serious about it."

"I can tell just from a glance that he's not one of those average joes who goes and leaves his dream unfulfilled. And based on that, he's probably really good at detecting if somethings wrong with someone."

They eventually arrive at Xavier's house and Daniel bangs on the door.

"Xavier! This is Daniel! Open up!"

"...I'm taking a mental health day..."

Before Xavier closes the door, Daniel stops him.

"You don't have the right to be sad, you couldn't even gather the courage to tell Rosalina how you feel!"

"Listen closely. Rosalina is waiting for you at Oak Tree Park right now. If you fail to tell her and just leave things as they are now, you will regret it for however long you'll live."

"You need to tell her, and even if it doesn't change anything, at the end of it all, you'll at least have closure."

Xavier takes a moment to realize that Daniel is right, but he questions if they'll even get back in time. Yune reassures Xavier, stating that Rosalina vowed to wait.

Xavier, Yune, and Daniel all take the train back to the neighborhood where Yune and Daniel live, and where Oak Tree Park is.

"Rosalina!"

"Xavier? What are you doing here?"

"Listen, I was chicken to tell you, but some people's words gave me good advice."

"I- I like you, do... Do you wanna go on a date sometime soon?"

Xavier says this as he looks down in embarrassment as he holds out a flower to Rosalina.

"...I'm sorry, I'd like to, but I already have a boyfriend."

"...It's fine, I said what I've wanted to."

Yune whispers in Daniel's ear, asking if this was really a good decision. Daniel simply whispers back that no option in this situation would initially work well for everyone, but if Xavier doesn't give into adversity and convinces Rosalina, that would end well for as many people as possible.

"Of course, a reward worth receiving doesn't come without its suitable challenges..."

As they walk away with the situation temporarily resolved, Daniel, Xavier and Yune go home on their own.
