Josuke and Okuyasu lay tangled together under the soft glow of the moonlight, their breathing slow and steady, their hearts content, wishing this peaceful moment would last forever. The tranquillity of the moment was suddenly shattered by the sound of a car pulling into the driveway. Okuyasu stiffened, recognizing the sound of his father's truck.
"Dad's home early," he whispered, a note of worry creeping into his voice, sitting up away from his lover.
Josuke sat up, concern etched on his face. "Do you want me to leave?"
Okuyasu shook his head firmly. "No. We're not doing anything wrong. We have nothing to hide." The front door opened with a heavy thud, and the sound of boots clomping on the hardwood floor echoed through the house. Okuyasu's father, Mansaku, called out, his voice rough and commanding. "Yasu, you home!?"
His son took a deep breath, steeling himself. "In my room, Dad."
Moments later, the bedroom door swung open, and Mansaku stood there, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of his son and another boy sitting close together on the bed. His face darkened with anger.
"What the hell is going on here?" Mansaku demanded, his voice rising. Okuyasu stood up, trying to remain calm. "Pa, this is Josuke. We've been dating for a while now." Mansaku's eyes flicked between them, his expression turning from confusion to fury. "Dating? You mean...you're one of them? A... a fag?"
Okuyasu flinched at the harsh word, but he stood his ground. "I'm gay, Dad. And Jojo here is my boyfriend."
Mansaku's face twisted with rage. "No son of mine is going to be involved in this...this perversion! I won't have it in my house!"
Josuke stood up, trying to intervene. "Mr. Nijimura, please, we—"
"You shut up!" the old man snapped, pointing a finger at Josuke. "Get out of my house. Now."
Josuke looked at his boyfriend, his eyes filled with concern and reluctance, but Okuyasu nodded, indicating it was best for now. Josuke walked out of the room, glancing back at him with a look of deep worry.
Okuyasu felt his own anger rising, a mix of frustration and sadness. "This isn't about you, Dad. This is about me. This is who I am, and I'm not going to apologize for it."
His father's expression hardened; his eyes cold. "I raised you better than this. This...lifestyle is unnatural. It's disgusting. What will people think of our family?"
Okuyasu felt his own anger rising. "This is who I am pa, and I'm not ashamed of it. And I'm not going to pretend to be someone I'm not just to make you happy."
His father's face grew even darker, if that was possible. "If you won't end this...this mental illness, then you're not welcome here. Get your things and leave. NOW!"
Okuyasu's heart sank, but he held his head high. "Fine. If you won't fucking love me for who I am, then I'll leave, "he spat out, holding back tears.
He walked to his closet, grabbing a duffel bag and stuffing it with clothes and essentials. His hands were shaking, but he forced himself to move quickly. Mansaku stood in the doorway, his expression cold and unyielding.
When he finally finished packing, he slung the bag over his shoulder and walked out of the room, past his father. He paused at the front door, looking back one last time.
"Goodbye, Dad."
Mansaku said nothing, his silence more painful than any words he could have spoken. Okuyasu stepped out into the night, feeling the weight of what had just happened settle heavily on his shoulders. Josuke was waiting for him at the end of the driveway, his eyes filled with concern and care.
"Baby, I'm so sorry," Josuke said, pulling him into a tight hug.
Okuyasu clinged back, feeling a mixture of sadness and relief. "It's okay. We'll figure it out." Josuke kissed the top of his boyfriend's head. "You can stay with me. My parents will understand. They love you."
Nervously, Okuyasu nodded, grateful for his partner's support. "Thank you. I don't know what I'd do without you."
They both walked to Josuke's house, hand in hand, the night air cool and refreshing against their skin. When they arrived, Josuke's parents welcomed Okuyasu with open arms, their kindness-a stark contrast to what he had just left behind. As they settled into Josuke's room, Okuyasu felt a sense of peace wash over him. He knew the road ahead would be challenging, but with his beloved by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came their way.
Lying in bed together, Josuke held Okuyasu close, their fingers intertwined. "We'll get through this, Oku. Together."
He replied with a smile, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "Yeah, we will. Together. As they drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms, they knew that no matter what challenges they faced, their love would always be strong enough to overcome them.
Back at the house, Mansaku sat alone in the dimly lit living room, the silence around him deafening. He stared at the front door, his mind replaying the argument over and over. His heart ached with a mix of anger and sorrow, the weight of his harsh words sinking in. He thought of his son, the little boy he had raised, now walking out of his life because of his own stubborn pride and fear. Tears welled up in Mansaku's eyes as he realized the gravity of his actions. He had driven away his own son, and the house felt emptier than ever. The quiet of the night brought no comfort, only the painful realization of what he had lost...
