Marley's POV

The landscape was passing by in a flash of green. I looked at my reflection in the window. I was smiling ear to ear. My eyes glinted with happiness. My mom looked back and smiled and said to my brother, "Look at your sister, she's so happy."

" She looks like the joker." he replied

I spun around ready for the joke "Oh yeah and how do you know that?" I asked him

"Cause....cause I'm BATMAN!" he said with his best Batman impersonation

I tried not to, but I couldn't help myself I burst out with laughter. This joke would never get old. I rolled my eyes and looked down at my phone. No text. Oh well he had to go. I took out my iPod and put it on shuffle. "Gotta Be You" blasted in my ears. Oh what a coincidence.

I remember when this video came out. My two best friends, Olive and Rachel and I thought it was so good. The boys all looked adorable especially Louis ( well in my opinion). Olive drooled over Niall he was her dream guy.  Rachel drooled over Liam even though she wasn’t loving his hair. All these thoughts brought me back to the fact that I had some important news to tell those two.

I met Louis Tomlinson and from what I got he was definitley interested. Never in a thousand years would I think that I would ever meet him more or less have him interested in me. He had broken up with Eleanor months ago. Their relationship was rumored to be really great. I wonder what went  wrong?

I decided to forget all of this. I put my One Direction music on shuffle. I could recall the lyrics and I knew exactly when Louis sang his solos. His higher pitched voice, a good higher pitch,  rang out over the rest of the groups. I closed my eyes and pictured his face. Those blue-grey eyes, very similar to my own and his hair all spiked up in the front perfectly. He stood in his cute preppy little outfit-wait what am I doing. I mean I had liked guys before but I never remembered them perfectly the first time I met them. What was going on?

Mom’s voice rang through my thoughts, “Five minutes guys! Marley will you call grandma and let her know we’ll be there in five.”

“Um...yeah sure” I responded my hands going to dial my grandmothers number.

My hands trembled, I had to keep re-typing in the number. I put the phone to my ear. I zoned out again. What the heck. I’ve never been like this for a guy before. Nevertheless a guy I just met. Was I crazy? Was it because he was famous? Was it- “Hello...Hello...is anyone there?” my grandmother had picked up

“Grandma, hey its Marley. Um mom wanted me to tell you that we’ll be there in about five minutes.”

“Make it more like two!’ My mom shouted in the front seat

My grandmother heard my mother, “Okay got it! See you soon sweetie!”

The line was cut and I was back to my thoughts. We drove past the familiar houses. We finally pulled into my grandmothers driveway. I saw the beach and flung the door to the car open. The sea-breeze hit my face and I inhaled the warmth from the sun. I could taste the salt on my tongue. My body and mind instantly went numb. This was my medicine. I rushed past my mom and brother to the door of my grandmothers house. I gave her a quick hug and then went into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle. I ran outside to the porch and kicked my shoes off behind me.

I jumped into the sand and was met with instant gratification. The sand had cooled down from being in the shade for most of the day and the little grains stuck to my sweaty feet. I ran forward at that time my family had come onto the porch. I could hear my mom discussing my little adventure with my grandmother.

I put my headphones in and put on my beach playlist. I ran in the warm sand and ran towards the ocean. I stopped just where the waves ended. I rolled up my jeans and ran in as far as I could without trying to get my pants wet. The cool water surounded my feet and ankles and my body was instantly cooled. Salty water sprayed my face and I licked my lips to taste the salt that was left there. I was so caught and relaxed that I didn’t see the huge wave coming at me. It crashed down right at my feet and knocked me down. So much for not getting my pants wet.
