I keep on waiting for him, constantly checking the phone.

Maybe a single text or just one message, But there is nothing . The weight of disappointment settling in my chest like a leaden stone, each heavy breath amplifying the hollowness within my ribs.

I toss and turn over the bed, Sleep far away from my eyes. The last time I saw him , not for a second he gave any indication of going away.

Whirlwind with his thoughts, my eyes slowly droop with sleepiness.

A suffocating blanket of black heavy smoke clinging to my lungs and stealing the breath from my throat. The only light coming from the faint glow of the embers that dances and flickers in the far corner, casting grotesque shadows that stretches and contorts like grasping claws.

The room itself is a cavern of unknown size, its walls shrouded in darkness, punctuated only by the occasional glint of metal or a shard of broken glass reflecting the sickly orange light.

Panic claws at my throat, my primal instinct screaming for escape, but I am trapped, a prisoner in the suffocating embrace of the smoke. Each ragged breath brings a fresh wave of acrid fumes, stinging my eyes and burning my nose.

"Help, please help" I shout, I can hear the frantic pounding of my own heart, a drumbeat of fear against the suffocating silence.

My fingers, trembling with cold and fear, tracing the rough texture of the wall, searching for an exit, a crack in the darkness, a sliver of hope. But there is nothing, only the cold, unforgiving stone and the swirling, oppressive smoke.

"Please, someone open the door " The only thing between me and its fiery wrath is a fragile barrier of smoke, a thin veil of horror slowly threatening to be swallowed by the hungry flames at any moment.

And boom, suddenly everything vanishes into thin air.

It was a dream

That same dream.

I look around the room to find everything in place, I am safe in their house, there is no smoke, no darkness. I take the jug and gulp down the water in one go.

It has been days I haven't seen this dream because, whenever I am with him I feel safe, I feel secured, my brain is so relaxed that it doesn't sweep into these dark realms, but now that he isn't here, it happened again.

I slowly chug down the water and check my phone once again, there are no texts from him.

So I sit with my assignments and practicals , I keep on working and alternately checking my phone,

I don't know when I doze off to sleep.

I wake up to Megha banging on my door.

" What happened? Why are you shouting?" I frown at her opening the door, It's already morning, the bright sunlight bathing the room.

" Nothing, I just want to talk with you " She enters the room and huffs out sitting on the bed.

" Hmm hmm, tell me" I urge her to speak while rearranging the room, it looks like an utter mess, clothes loitered everywhere, my papers and notebooks thrown all over the bed, I need a whole day to arrange the this clutter.

" Harsh has asked me out " She declares grinning at me with a full hearted smile.

" Really ? When are you going out? " I ask her excitedly .

" I don't know maybe tomorrow, he has just asked me out " She blushes while speaking

" Do you like him?" I nudge her shoulders playfully , the thought of her with harsh makes me so happy.
