The radio blasted AC/DC's Shoot to Thrill, and the needle pushed at ninety as the sirens wailed behind me. I glanced out the rear view, grinning as I watched them rally behind me. I had quite the following tonight. This must have been a new record. I was pushing the limits of my car now, the needle sliding almost easily to a hundred.I reached over and slid the windows open, my hair flying in my face momentarily, forcing me to look through a veil of black. When I got it out of the way, letting it blow wildly about the car, I glanced into the mirrors, watching as they pulled to the side to flank me.
"Come on!" I screamed over the music, beating my palm on the wheel to the beat. I was ready.
Screw my mom, and my dumbass brother. I would die on this road, and I was ready for it.
Of course my thought process might have had something to do with the fact that I was drunk off my ass, but with my driving, you wouldn't be able to tell.
I mean, swerving all over the road was a good thing; sober people should try it more often.
I looked up as I noticed a helicopter shadowing me above, and my grin grew wider. "Yes!"
Definitely a new record.
Swerving to the beat of the music, I sang in an overly high pitched voice along to the song, and head banged my way across the road, only to drift back to my original position.
I came up on an exit, and noticed cops sitting up ahead, just as it registered in my head, the tires hit something, and I swerved.
Bastards, they'd set spikes.
I let out a scream as the car spun out, and my hands couldn't grip the wheel fast enough, as I swerved the other way to try to regain control. It was no use, as I went sailing off of the highway, and into the grass. The car hit the ground with an impact that caused me to lose my breath, and tipped upwards slightly, before falling back again, slamming to the ground and wrenching me in my seat.
Seat belts save lives.
Gasping for breath, and sounding like a chain smoker as it came in and out in wheezes and puffs, I blinked and shook my head to regain my senses. There was a lot of yelling outside, and it took me a few seconds to realize that they were telling me to get out of the car.
I let out a groan as I peeled the door open, unbuckling my seat belt with shaking hands as I spilled out of the car.
There was a lot of noise, and a slight ringing in my ears, as they all seemed to yell at once that I get down on the ground. I mean...how "On the ground" did they want me to get? I was basically a pancake on this nice cool grass.
They leaned down next to me as their buddies pointed guns from afar, and cuffed my limp hands behind my back.
Despite the rather unkempt way that I had been cuffed, I was still grinning when they pulled me up. I stumbled with them to the car, and before I realized it, I was back to my normal, smartass self.
"Hey, be gentle," I slurred, leaning heavily on the cop's chest, "I'm only human."
Ignoring my warning, he roughly pushed me into the back seat of his vehicle, and I glared at him.
"Hey! Gentle means no. Don't you know about safe sex?"
I absolutely knew I was making no sense anymore. Absolutely. Which is why I giggled senselessly at the word "Sex."
"You said "sex."," I accused him, still laughing.
"I did not say "sex,"," He argued. "You did."
"Now you did!" I cackled, and he snorted.
"Smartass."

"Are you serious right now? Jane Lane Harrison, do you know how many times I've done this?" My mother's overly annoying voice shrieked over the phone. "How much money I've spent bailing you out? No more, young lady! How could you be so stupid?"
"So yeah, as I was saying, I'm in jail, and my plan to die didn't work out so well, so...," I trailed off as more shrieking ensued.
"Do you really want to fill your father's shoes that bad? Are you really that idiotic? Jane-,"
"Okay, my call is up. Hate you too, bye!" Ignoring her protests, I put the phone back on the hook, and let out a breath.
"Take me away officer!" I said dramatically, falling against the wall with a hand to my forehead.
"Actually, I was to take you in immediately for questioning."
I squinted my eyes up at Carl as he took my arm and led me to the interrogation room. "Why? Isn't this the usual stay in the hub? Not like I robbed a convenience store with a partner again."
Shaking his head, Carl held back a grin. "Well, I think you should hear it from chief."
Groaning, I dragged my feet as he opened the door for me, settling me into a chair.
"Carl," I called, "Get me a coke, I know there's one out there somewhere."
While I was looking around him for a vending machine with a suspicious gaze, Carl sighed.
"No," He replied, before shutting the door behind him.
I groaned again, throwing my feet up on the table. A minute later, I was examining my nails, picking at my cuticles, when "Chief" walked in.
I looked up from my riveting activity, and blinked.
Dark, golden eyes assessed me from where he stood, he wore a black blazer, and slacks, with a tie wrapped ruggedly around his neck. Even with his clothing, I could see that he was well built. His hair curled around his ears, and was messy, as if he'd been running his hands through it.
As this split second assessment ran through my mind, he gave me a polite nod.
"Ms. Jane Harington. My name is Victor Price."
In the fuzz of my drunken mind, I slid my feet off of the table, leaned onto my elbows, and grinned up at him.
"You're pretty sexy, you know that?"
