Mary couldn't simply go to sleep, not with the weight of the night pressing on her chest. She needed to clear her mind, to find a way to escape, if only for a moment, from all that troubled her. And then she knew exactly where to go.

The night sky over Hogwarts was a tapestry of stars, intense and clear, each one a pinprick of light in the vast darkness. From the Astronomy Tower, it felt as though she could reach out and touch them, lose herself in the endless beauty of the night. The cold breeze whispered against her skin as she ascended the tower, the echo of her footsteps the only sound in the stillness.

When she reached the top, she stood silently for a moment, letting the sight of the stars calm her racing thoughts.

Mary stepped closer to the edge, her eyes drawn to the horizon where the stars met the earth, their light shimmering faintly over the darkened landscape. She breathed in deeply, filling her lungs with the crisp night air, and slowly exhaled, allowing the tension in her body to melt away.

But even with the calming night, Mary couldn't shake the memory of her conversation with Sebastian and Ominis. Their words echoed in her mind as she stared up at the stars, each one a reminder of the tension that had sparked between them earlier in the Undercroft.

She knew them both so well, knew how they thought, how they felt. It was almost certain that her arrival had interrupted the first argument, one she hadn't witnessed but could easily imagine. Their clashing personalities, their different views, and the undercurrent of something deeper—something that went beyond mere friendship—had surely led to that heated exchange.

As she stood there, allowing the night air to cool her heated thoughts, Mary found a sense of clarity.

She knew now what she had to do.

omorrow, she would tell them everything. It was the only way forward, the only way to protect them and keep their friendship intact. They deserved to know about the ancient magic that coursed through her veins, about Ranrok and his twisted plans to harness the dark power of Isidora's magic for his own gain—and the Goblins' too. And then there were the Keepers' trials, a burden she had shouldered in secret, each one pushing her further into a world that was as dangerous as it was mysterious.

It was too much to reveal in a single conversation, too much to expect them to understand all at once. But she had no choice. Keeping them in the dark would only lead to more conflict, more misunderstandings, and perhaps even put them in danger. She couldn't allow that.

Her decision made, Mary felt a strange mix of relief and anxiety. Tomorrow would change everything. She would no longer be able to protect them by keeping them at arm's length. But it was time. They needed to know the truth, and she needed to share it with them. Whatever the consequences, it was the right thing to do. She had made her choice.

With a deep breath, Mary tore her gaze away from the stars and turned back towards the castle. Tomorrow would be a new day, a day of revelations, but for now, she allowed herself this one moment of peace before everything changed.
