My attention got pulled to the sound of him pulling at some kind of fabric, it didn't sound like ripping just sounded like it was being pulled to the last of the elastic limit. I craned my head a bit to see what was happening and wasn't sure how I had missed it earlier but he had a bandage wrapped several times around his arm. He had been picking and pulling at it in an uncomfortable manner. My eyes trailed up from the bandage to his eyes that seemed to wince with each pull. "Is it too tight?" I asked feeling it to be in my best interest to not ask how he had earned it. He looked away from me with an irritated expression and gave a small nod. I reached my hand out flat as if I was feeding a horse then clasped my fingers together against my palm a few times, gesturing him to give me access to his injury. Reluctantly he laid his arm in my hand, it was just about as heavy as you would imagine if not heavier. I rested my elbow against his knee to prop my arm and his up then turned my body to the side to be able to get a better grasp on what I needed to do. My free hand has lifted and grabbed the end of the fabric, while unraveling it I noticed the large amount of blood it had concealed. I could handle seeing wounds but that didn't mean I wanted to see it, so I just loosened it and rewrapped it firmly instead of tightly without revealing the gash in the process. I had smiled  at my work then looked up at him, who had been watching me closely during the exchange. I had cleared my throat unsure of what to do and carefully laid his arm down against his leg then went back to my previous front facing position on the steps. He nudged his knee against my shoulder making me sway a bit then I heard that same chuckle come from him that I had heard in the kitchen. I couldn't help but smile, if I could play with his mind just enough I could make him do whatever I wanted... Including letting me be free. I was humming to myself as I watched out over the property, within that same moment I noticed a dust cloud from the road. I hoped deep down it was someone that had gotten lost and was looking for directions, my hopes had gotten crushed when I seen the familiar run down police car pulling up to the house. Thomas stood quickly and placed a hand on my head, almost like I was a kid that was being protected. Hoyt got out of the car looking as sleazy and disgusting as usual, I don't think he ever washed that uniform. He spit at the ground and gave me and Thomas a toothy grin, "Nothin today, boy. How's yer lil girlfriend been actin?" He asked while trudging lazily to the steps, his feet kicking up the dust making small clouds that resembled the one that loomed over his vehicle when he was pulling up. My face twisted into a cringed frown, disgusted by his words like he even had the smallest right to suggest I'd be with him. Thomas just bowed his head like a pup that has gotten yelled at. It didn't take long for Hoyt to see my frown, making him stop dead in his tracks. If looks could kill I would've been attracting buzzards. His eyes pierced through my soul, "What's yer problem? Over here lookin like ya got a stick in her ass." He spat at me, the smell of dip on his breath made my nose crinkle. "Just don't appreciate you being gross." I replied flatly. My choice of words wasn't my best decision but I definitely struck the right cord with the perverted bastard, he had took a few steps towards me at which I then felt Thomas's arm wrap around my shoulder, he had pulled my side against him protectively. "It'd be in yer best interest to keep that pretty mouth shut, it'd be a shame if I had to shut it for ya." Hoyt seethed and raised his hand then grabbed my chin between his index finger and thumb then roughly removed them. Thomas's clutch had gotten firmer as Hoyt then made the rest of his way up the steps and inside. Once the bastard left our vicinity, Thomas had gently directed me to turn to him by pulling on my shoulder, his free hand cupped the bottom of my face then let his thumb run softly against my chin as if he was inspecting it for injury. I stared up at him, his gentle touch wasn't expected especially not after that. He let out a soft relieved sigh then looked into my eyes as I stared at him. There was a brief moment of silence between the two of us. By the time we had realized we were staring it was already too late to make it not awkward. Both of our faces had turned a light shade of red, we looked away from each other at the same time in different  directions. "We had best be getting inside then. I need to go help your mama cook." I said embarrassed and disappointed in myself as I stepped back on the top of the porch from the step I had been sitting on. As I made my short journey to the door I was stopped by him grabbing my arm. I stopped suddenly then turned to look at him, he seemed sad. He seemed upset about the fact our or more so his little moment with me was over with at least now I knew I had him wrapped around my finger but I couldn't help but feel remorse for what may or need to happen for me to have my freedom once more. I let him see a reassuring smile which made him reluctantly release my arm. After I was able to walk freely, my feet carried me into the house I could hear Hoyt's voice coming from the living room he was complaining about my attitude to Luda. His anger made me snicker, there wasn't anything I loved more than seeing an irritating old man get disgruntled because he didn't get his way. My journey ended in the entrance of the living room where Luda was now standing and speaking to Hoyt, I cleared my throat to get her attention which in turn made her look at me and give her signature smiles, "What are you needing, my dear?" She asked softly, Hoyt turned and glared at me which made my skin crawl with discomfort. "I was just curious if you needed help cooking supper." I offered her, I refused to let my manners disappear just because of what was going on unless of course they bound me in one place and didn't give me a centimeter worth of freedom. She seemed excited by my offer and pushed past the pissed off old man, "Well of course I could always use the extra help, dear. It'd be some good bonding time for us." She responded with excitement while leading me back to the most familiar spot in the whole house to me, the kitchen. We had began preparing to cook steak and veggies. She chopped veggies while I seasoned and cooked the meat, the sound of meat cooking always sounded nice to me. It was a very home comforting sound. After I get out of here that's the first place I'm going, home. While we were cooking I had noticed Thomas entered the room and took a seat at the small corner table like he had done earlier that day. Luda had noticed him around the same time I did and gave him a loving mother's smile, "Hey, my boy. Do you wanna help us?" She asked trying to hide the excitement in her voice. I heard Thomas grunt approvingly and slide his chair out. He took to his mother's side and took the veggies she had prepared then placed them into a pot on the stove. After we had finished cooking and Thomas was done setting the table, we all got gathered together to eat. During the meal after saying grace of course, Hoyt had stayed watching me menacingly. Every few glances I gave him made it seem as though his rage was fueled more and more. Luda had noticed the stare down and I'm assuming had kicked Hoyt in the leg who then shot a pained and irritated look at her then down at his food. The rest of the meal was quiet and peaceful. We had went about cleanup just as the other nights, then everyone retired to their rooms and Thomas retreated back to the basement.

Throughout the whole day I kept the blade hidden in my shoe a mystery until now, I had already made my way back to my room and locked the door. Once I was inside my only safe space, I removed the knife from its own safe space then placed it under my pillow. I left my clothes on and laid in the bed, trying to get some sleep before the early morning... MY early morning. I was excited and horrified of the outcome of my escape. I just hope I can make it out unscathed and without having to hurt anyone, but whatever is to be done needs to be done. I'm getting out of here tomorrow.
