"My name is Lucas. You have a pen, right? Let's talk... about William Minerva." Is that the Lucas I've heard of? The Lucas from Skunks room, etched on the wall and the one he murmured about?
"You're from Glory Bell as well?! Did you also come from B06-32? And.. this one guy- do you know him.. someone I know.." I was at lost for words, as everyone else had left the room, leaving the two of us alone.
"I recognize those clothes. So you're from B06-32 too? I knew it. Because that's what I wanted to know the most. But I was scared to ask. It's been 13 years already... Is he alive?" Lucas asked me, as I teared up and nodded at him, and I watched Lucas light up, teary eyed as he let out a gasp.
"Oh... my gosh. Thank goodness. Thank goodness.."

"I'm sorry for getting a bit emotional there." Lucas apologized, as we sat across from each other at the table, as I smiled at him, assuring he had nothing to say sorry for.
"No, you're good. I'm so happy you're alive. I hope I can tell him that you're alive. He'll be more than happy. He thinks you're dead! He has survivors guilt, thinking that he lost all of his friends." I explained, as he sweat dropped and looked away from me, as he explained their past.
"I was the only one who survived. Even I thought that I was done back then. There was a girl who saved me. Someone I didn't know. I'd never even seen her before at the village. She said that she'd been hiding the whole time. So the monsters wouldn't find her. That she'd been playing hide-and-seek the whole time at a place they would never find her. And it was true. We were never discovered. She hid me. Helped me. I think the poachers assumed, that I'd run away with him. I've been using this windmill as a base, hiding here for 13 years. I became someone who didn't exist. The only ones who know I'm alive are you, adam, and the nine kids."
"What happened to the girl who saved you?" I asked, turning my head to the side, seeing how differently Lucas and skunk handle grief differently, but one was alone, the other wasn't.
"She died. Maybe about five years after she saved me. She got sick. It's been eight years since then. I often thought of escaping here alone. I was injured and without a pen. But I thought I could take the chance and return to the shelter to tell him I was okay. But those memories would resurface every time. The grief over my friends who were killed by the poachers. The screams of the other children as they ran in confusion. The fear that girl felt. I want to destroy this hunting ground. I'll never forgive these poachers!" Lucas shouted, leaning over the table as I flinched away slightly in fear, but I understood him.
"So I fathered the kids who felt the same way. I taught them skills. Gave them information. Helped them prepare. Plus I couldn't leave here. I needed to destroy this place for when I call him back. I found it. It was here at A08-63. The reason Mr. Minerva invited us. The place where she hid me in the beginning was it." I gasped as I heard his findings, so shocked that I stood up from my chair, as it tipped and fell with a crash to the ground. He explained it was a locked door, that he couldn't get into.
"Could it be.." I started, my voice trailing off at the end.
"Yes. The key is that pen that you have in your hands. I can't believe it took 13 years... I can't believe this opportunity has come at last. I can finally find out what's on the other side of that door. Let's go. I'll take you to Mr. Minerva's door. To what he really intends for us." Lucas stood up, using his cane for support as he slowly made his way over to a spiral staircase, and I had to aid him down, our footsteps echoing as we made our way down, my heart racing for what would be behind that door.
"I've been thinking ever since I was thrown in here. Why did Mr. Minerva invite us to such a place? It never crossed your mind? That maybe he's tricking us. That Mr. Minerva is really the enemy and that the letter was a trap to lure us here to the hunting ground." And that thought made me make a weird squeak, and I shook my head trying not to think about that possibility.
