Bucky Pov present day 2022

I groan as I lift my head. I reach out towards the coffee table for my ringing phone. When I don't feel it, I sit up and move the dozens of newspapers scattered across my living room. along with the beer bottles. Finally I find it under the coffee table just as it stops ringing. I have a missed call from Steve and Sam.

I sit back on the couch, place my phone on the table and adjust my semi hard cock in my boxer briefs. I lean over and grab a beer, open it, and drain half the bottle. I huff a sigh of annoyance when there is a knock at my door. I get up and open it, not surprised at all to see Steve and Sam standing there. I walk away leaving the door wide open, finish off the beer and tossing it in the trash.

"Man. what the hell happened in here?" Sam asks as he looks around a little disgusted.

I walk over to the fridge and grab another beer and a doughnut.

Steve takes a look around and says, "Shit." he puts his hands on his hips as he shakes his head. "What happened?"

I belch loudly as I suck every last drop from the bottle. I sit back on the couch and say, "She moved on."

Sam walks over to the couch and says, "It didn't look that way to me."

I glare at him and say, " well she did." I dig through the piles of old newspapers until I find it. the announcement in the paper. I toss the paper to them. "There is a picture and everything." I chuckle bitterly.

"So when you disappeared last night..." Sam asks, but I cut him off. I point at him and say, "I went to the nearest printing press company got the last year worth of newspapers." I laugh out and it sounds manic even too my own ears. "How did I miss it? how did I not see it?"

Sam and Steve look at each other and I see it. I realize, they knew. "I stand up and point at them and say, "You knew this whole time and you didn't tell me. does Nat and Sharon know too?"

They both don't say anything, just stare at me with guilt and pity in their eyes. "So I'm the only idiot that didn't know!" I yell.

I pick up a bottle and throw it at my TV and it shatters. "God Dammit!!"

I walk over to the window and rest my aching head on the cool window. Steve is the first to break the silence, "I'm sorry man. we thought it would be better to tell you once you were pass all of this. when you didn't, we couldn't tell you."

"Yea man. you were spiraling." Sam added.

I turn and look from Sam to Steve, and he sits down in one of the chairs. He rests his face in his hands and looks up at my angry face and says, " when we saw, you started to get better, we were happy. we thought you were finally moving on. But then, we slowly came to realize it had to be, you found out she was back." he let out a breath and shook his head.

"So you knew, this entire time that she was back?!" I throw my hands in the air. Who needs enemies when you have friend like these? I can't believe they've been keeping this from me.

Steve and Sam look at each other and then at me. that was all I needed to know. I scream "FUCK!"

I scream fuck over and over as I pick up bottle after bottle and throw them. I scream for them to get the hell out. they avoid the smashing, but they don't leave. once I run out of bottle to break, I go grab the spare rum I keep in my sock drawer. After a few gulps, Steve rips the bottle from my hands. I lunge after him, but Sam grabs me and pushes me to sit on the sofa. And says, "Man, it is 10 in the morning. Too fucking early to be wasted."

Steve sits down next to me and hands me a bottle of water and says, "yea. Calm down. we were just trying to protect you."

I snap at him, "by lying to me."
