Chapter 2: to the cave

Copper

Copper strides out of the cave, thinking.

Why did I say toodles?!? No one says toodles these days!!

His head stopped churning as he looked down at his school map to see where his cave was.

Aha! Copper thinks seeing a cave that said "copper" on it with 2 other names.

He finds his way there, nearly bumping into a male sandwing who looked at him cautiously until the nightwing he was traveling with gently nudged him to keep on going. Another dragon was already in the room, looking down at his map, hard.

At first Copper thought he looked like a skywing, until his wings opened up in surprise when he walked into the room.

They were a shiny, glossy black with flecks of white dotted around them.

They were like a night sky.

This dragon was probably half nightwing.

Copper looked at him, and he looked at copper.

"...you know how to read a map?" He asked to break the silence.

"Uh... yeah?" Copper said.

"Can you help then? My name is Firestarter by the way, if that helps." Firestarter says awkwardly. Copper looks at the map, and immediately sees that Firestarter was in the wrong cave.

"Your cave is just down the hallway, 3 caves down." Copper answers.

"Oh. Ok, bye then," Firestarter says sheepishly and leaves.

Copper whispers to himself. "Looks like they got an extension! One more bed is useful, I guess."

He looks around the room, finding a bed to sleep in. He eventually settles on a stone bed (copper remembers the army training he had done, that forced him to sleep on jagged, uncomfortable rocks, so this flat one was a nice change.).

He puts his scroll in the scroll holder, and hears a gong with someone shouting,

"Gather in the great hall!" It sounds like auntie sunny.

Copper scrambles toward the great hall, but then sees someone crouching in the corner, getting laughed at by a hivewing. Copper walks over to the hivewing, and says "Why are you laughing at her?" As he turns to look at her. She was a beautiful skywing with tender, warm orange eyes, and red scales. She was in tears lying on the floor, and had bruises all over her. He looked at the hivewing sceptically, then down at her. He gently asked her, "hey, is this hivewing bothering you?" She looked up, and nodded her head the tiniest bit, as if just thinking about it hurt.

He turned to the hivewing.

Hivewing sneered at him.

He looked back at him.

Hivewing charged at him and tried to rake his claws across his face. Copper dodges, and uses his tail like a rope to trip him over. Then remembers the knocking out move from the soldiers camp.

A crowd starts to gather.

He points to a random dragon, a sandwing, in the crowd.

"You," he says. "Whats your name?"

"Sandslide?" He mumbles.

"Get clay or sunny, or just- just someone!" He commands

As sandslide runs away, he turns back.

He approaches the hivewing lying on the floor, which tries to stand up, but copper knocks one of his legs out and watches him fall over again. He then approaches the hurt skywing, and says, "are you ok?", helping her get up in the process.

"Just a few bruises. It's nothing." She says.

"Whats your name?" He asks.

"Furnace," she says blinking up at him. She was only a little bit smaller then him, but she made it seem like he was a giant and furnace was a dragonet.

"I'm copper. Want me to take you to sunny?" Copper asks.

"Sure, if thats ok." Furnace agrees.

And they walk off as clay walks in to see the hivewing on the floor, the witnesses gaping, and his son guiding a (soon to be) friend to the hospital wing.

And, before I make my story permanent and done, if you have any OCs you want in this book, just leave their name and a little info in the comments about them. I will get around to outside of jade mountain, but inside is where the main plot is taking place. The OC needs to go to jade mountain if you want it in! Anyways, toodles for now!
