The Architect

Chapter 2

Lexi left the conference room feeling both exhilarated and intimidated. She had never met anyone like Ethan Blackwood before - his demanding nature was both captivating and terrifying.

As she walked out of the building, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just stepped into a whole new world. A world where the stakes were high, and the players were ruthless.

She got in her car  and headed home, her mind whirling with thoughts of the project. She knew that she had to deliver, not just for Ethan, but for herself.

When she arrived home, her best friend, Sarah, was waiting for her in the living room. "Hey, girl! How was the meeting?"

Lexi collapsed onto the couch, letting out a deep sigh. "It was intense. He's demanding, but I think I can handle it."

Sarah raised an eyebrow. "Handle it? You mean, like, handle him?"

Lexi laughed. "No, I mean, handle the project. But yeah, him too."

Sarah grinned. "Well, I'm sure you'll be able to handle him. You're Lexi Thompson, after all."

Lexi rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the vote of confidence."

Suddenly Sarah gasped. "Let's stalk him!" Lexi let out a humorous laugh. "No no way I'm not stalking that bastard" Sarah rolled her eyes. "Oh come on Lex he is going to be your boss for the next few months, might as well find out something you can use against him" Lexi thought for a while but eventually gave in, knowing Sarah is not going to drop it.

"Fine"

Sarah squealed, and took out her laptop, putting it on the counter. While Lexi put two cups of coffee in front of them.

Sarah searched his name on Google and a whole bunch of articles, news reports, videos, interviews, photoshoots popped up.  "Damn the guy is made of money" Sarah mumbled. Lexi read some of the headlines.

"Blackwood Builds Business Empire" - Forbes

"Ethan Blackwood: The King of Real Estate" - Bloomber

"Blackwood's Latest Venture: A Billion-Dollar Development" - The New York Times

Lexi's eyes widened as she read about Ethan's success. He was a true mogul, with a net worth in the billions.

But what really caught her attention was an article from The Wall Street Journal:

"Blackwood's Ruthless Tactics Raise Eyebrows"

The article detailed Ethan's history of aggressive business deals and his willingness to do whatever it took to come out on top.

Lexi felt a shiver run down her spine. But she choose to ignore. "Look here! They said they've never seen him with a women"

Lexi rolled her eyes. "Well maybe he just wants to keep his private life, private Sarah". Sarah scoffed. "Oh please! A man this rich doesn't have privacy".

Sarah continued searching for a while whilst Lexi started dinner.

"Okay no more stalking my boss" Lexi said shutting the laptop in Sarah's face. "Yea but do you want to know what I found?" Lexi sighed.

"Your gonna tell me anyway"

"He started he's company when he was 24 and it took off when he was 30. He's now 37 and own a chain of hotels and resorts around the world. He's also Italian and is fluent in it. And he has four main headquarters of his company. In New York, in Italy, in London, and in South Africa. He owns also a foster care in Africa and helps feeding the hunger. Ohhhh! I wish I could marry him" Sarah went on and on about Ethan. Lexi scoffed whilst eating.

"Oh please! The only reason he does that, is because it's good for business. And it make his reputation looks good"

"That may be so, but you can't deny that he's helping millions"

"Because he has to, in his life it's a MUST and it's not because he wants to. He does help millions, but he helps them with the wrong intention. He doesn't help because he feels remorse he helps so he can make money of them"

"How do you know that?!"

"Sarah I have a company of my own I know how these things goes"

Lexi put both plates in the sink. "Well I have work tomorrow, so I'll see you Saturday?"

"Yeah bye! Be safe, love you!"

"Love you too!"

Sarah left and Lexi went upstairs and took a shower. Not long after she got into bed. As she drifted away something got her thinking;
