I have been fending off zombies since i was a little boy. It was quite easy when you get the hang of it. The walkers are usually weak, dumb, and slow. The crawlers are slow but can climb really good. The runners, well, run of course. The tanks are hefty and strong but are really, really slow. The changers, are zombies that are normal and docile, friendly even, during the day, but at night, they become ruthless and aggressive, faster than the walkers and almost as strong as the tanks, but they dont usually run at all for some reason.
I have my good share of zombie studies. What's strange is that...I'm immune to the disease and whenever I try to go to scientists, they call me crazy or think its a joke. I've given up like 2 months ago because it's useless talking to people who wont listen, like talking to a wall.
I was fighting off a zombie one day until I heard a scream. I shot the zombie in the head and ran over to the sound of the cry.
"Hello!? Who's there!?" I yelled in the direction of the voice.
"Over here!!" A voice shouted followed by hungry zombie noises.
I ran over to see who it was, it was a woman. She was being attacked by a zombie so I ran over and kicked the zombie in the jaw before helping her up.
"Thank you so much, I would have been over if it wasn't for you" She said, holding my hand.
'God, i hope she wont be into me' I thought as I nervously chuckled and held her hand into mine. "No problem"
I was an average looking guy, 5'11, black, medium length hair, grey eyes, slim but not muscular. Like and in-between nerd and jock but leaning more towards nerd. So I never got many girls to fall for me but a couple do, which kinda sucks because I'm gay.
"What zombie were you being attacked by? It looked like a changer" I asked
"It was a runner" She said "my name is Abagail, what's yours?"
"Oliver, my friends used to call me Ollie" I smiled softly
"Nice to meet you Ollie" Abagail said, still holding onto me
I pulled away and chuckled awkwardly "Nice to meet you too, m-my friends used to call me that, it's a special nickname to me, why are you using it?"
"Well, we're friends now aren't we?" She said in a tone that sounded like she was faking being nice, I could smell that tone from a mile away.
I sighed and started fidgeting with my hands "I-I guess"
She lit up "Great! Lets go to your base!"
"W-why?" I asked even more nervous
"Well you see...my entire base was destroyed by zombies and now I have just been walking around for a while" she responded
I nodded and started leading her to my base. I helped her in, showed her the extra room where she could sleep, the bathroom, my room, the main area, and the kitchen.
We began talking on the old, torn up couch and the topic of my friends came up
I looked shocked and sad. "Well...they all turned...one of them didn't tell me that they were a changer and then one day night rolled around and they forgot to lock their room so...they went into everyone's rooms and started transforming everyone..."
"Oh...how unfortunate...how did you not get infected?"
I started explaining "well..."
~flashback~
8 months into the pregnancy, my mother got infected by being bitten. My father thought it was the end and he wouldnt see his wife or child. They had to restrain her just in case.
"Can I hold my child please?...Before I turn" She asked with a begging expression
"Sure, ma'am, but once you turn, there's no promise we can save your baby" the doctor said, reluctantly handing me to my mother
"He's beautiful, Jennifer..." My father said to my mother
"I know...too bad this is the last time i'll see him" My mom, sobbed. "I think we should name him after you"
My father sobbed just the same "Yeah. Welcome the the world, baby Oliver"
I opened my eyes for the first time just as my mother's skin turned green and she became more and more animalistic. My dad gasped and tried reaching for me but my mom had already bitten me
'Ah! That tickles!' My innocent newborn baby brain thought as my mom literally tried eating me
I laughed loudly and my mom pulled back in surprise. She smiled and kissed my forhead, holding me close.
"Its....its a miracle! The mother still remembers her family!" The doctors shouted
"Sir, you may keep your child under one condition, you teach him how to avoid the infected" the doctor explained and my father immediately agreed. "It also appears that your child may be immune to the infected"
"O-ol...iv...er...m...m..y...b...ba...by..." My mom said through her zombification
I finally snapped out of my deep explanation when Abagail snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Earth to Oliver! Helloooo?"
"Ah, sorry, just thinking about memories." I responded
I wonder where this night is gonna take me....
