The city streets were unusually quiet as Chan walked home, the earlier tension with Felix still fresh in his mind. The sun had set, leaving behind the cool, crisp air of the evening. Chan's thoughts were heavy with the conversations he'd had and the unresolved issues still looming over him.
As he turned a corner, the sound of raised voices caught his attention. Chan quickened his pace and soon found himself on a bustling street where Changbin and Hyunjin were engaged in a heated argument. The altercation was intense, with both boys gesticulating wildly and voices rising in anger.
"Stay out of this, Changbin!" Hyunjin shouted, pushing Changbin forcefully. "You have no idea what you're talking about!"
Changbin staggered slightly but quickly regained his composure. "I know enough to see that you're making a mess of everything, Hyunjin! You can't keep treating people like this!"
Hyunjin's face was contorted with frustration as he turned on his heel and stormed away, disappearing into the night. Chan watched in shock, his heart racing from the confrontation. Changbin stood alone, looking both exasperated and defeated.
Chan hesitated for a moment, then approached Changbin. "Are you alright?"
Changbin looked up, surprise and relief flashing across his face. "Chan? I didn't expect to see you here."
"What happened?" Chan asked, concerned.
Changbin sighed deeply. "Just a disagreement. Nothing major. Just some stuff I needed to get off my chest with Hyunjin."
Chan frowned. "Do you want to talk about it? I can listen."
Changbin's face softened slightly, and he nodded. "Sure. How about we grab a drink? I could use some company."
Chan agreed, and the two of them headed to a nearby bar. The establishment was dimly lit and had a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. They found a booth in the corner and ordered their drinks. The clinking of glasses and the murmur of conversations around them provided a backdrop of normalcy against the tension that lingered between them.
As the drinks began to take effect, Changbin's demeanor grew more reflective. He took a long sip of his beer and then looked at Chan with a serious expression. "You know, Hyunjin and I used to be really close. But lately, things have been... complicated."
Chan listened attentively. "What do you mean?"
Changbin leaned back in his seat, staring into his drink. "Hyunjin's been caught up in a lot of things lately—things he won't talk about. He's been distant, and it feels like he's hiding something. I just don't know how to reach him anymore."
Chan nodded, understanding the weight of Changbin's words. "It sounds tough. But sometimes, people don't open up because they're dealing with their own issues."
Changbin looked at Chan, his eyes full of frustration. "That's just it. I've seen what's happening at the club. I know what he's doing."
Chan's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
Changbin's face darkened. "Hyunjin's been seeing clients at the club—sleeping with them, even. He's caught up in something that's way over his head."
Chan's jaw dropped in shock. "I had no idea. That's... that's really serious."
"It is," Changbin confirmed. "And it's tearing him apart. I tried to talk to him about it, but he just pushes me away. I don't know how to help him."
Chan was silent for a moment, trying to process the gravity of what he had just heard. "Have you tried getting him out of that situation?"
Changbin shook his head. "It's not that simple. He's entangled in something that's hard to break free from. And now, I'm worried that he's in deeper trouble than he realizes."
They continued to drink and talk late into the night. The alcohol made the conversations flow more freely, and Chan found himself opening up to Changbin as well. They talked about their fears, their families, and their hopes for the future.
As the night wore on, Chan felt a sense of camaraderie with Changbin that he hadn't expected. The weight of the conversation had taken its toll, and they both found themselves yawning and feeling the effects of their indulgence.
Eventually, Changbin offered Chan a place to stay for the night. "You don't have to head home if you're tired. You can crash here if you want."
Chan agreed, appreciating the offer. They made their way to Changbin's apartment, which was modest but cozy. Chan settled onto the couch, feeling the exhaustion from the evening's events settling in. Changbin offered him a blanket and then retreated to his own room.
As Chan lay on the couch, trying to calm his racing thoughts, his phone buzzed with a new message. He glanced at the screen and saw it was from the unknown number. His heart sank as he read the message.
Unknown: What a lovely couple, right? How Changbin lives with such a whore?
P.S. It's a short one, so next is tomorrow.
