Chan woke up to the blaring sound of his phone vibrating on the nightstand. The first thing he saw as he reached for it was a message from Felix, the familiar name on the screen bringing a mix of hope and frustration.
Felix: Hey Chan, sorry for last night. I didn't mean to upset you. Let's talk.
Chan rubbed his eyes and glanced at Seungmin, who was still sound asleep beside him. The warmth of the room and Seungmin's steady breathing were comforting, but Chan's mind was far from at ease. He felt a deep sense of sadness as he read Felix's message, the hurt from the night before still fresh in his heart.
Chan: We can talk later. I have a lot on my plate right now.
With a heavy sigh, Chan turned off his phone and slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Seungmin. He walked to the kitchen where Seungmin was already up, making breakfast. The smell of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee filled the air, a welcome distraction from his troubled thoughts.
Seungmin looked up and smiled, his eyes warm and inviting. "Good morning, Chan. I hope you slept well."
Chan managed a small smile, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Morning. Yeah, I slept okay."
Seungmin's gaze lingered on Chan, sensing that something was off. "Everything alright? You seem a bit distant."
Chan hesitated before shaking his head. "Just... a lot on my mind."
Seungmin nodded, understanding but not pressing further. "Well, breakfast is almost ready. I figured you could use a good meal before heading out."
They sat down to eat, the conversation light and easy. Seungmin's cheerful demeanor and the simple comfort of the meal helped distract Chan, if only for a little while. They talked about school, their plans for the weekend, and Seungmin's latest baseball game. It was nice to have a normal, carefree conversation, even if Chan's mind was still preoccupied.
After breakfast, Chan prepared to head home to work on the demo project that was due soon. Seungmin walked him to the door, giving him a supportive pat on the back. "Good luck with the project. If you need anything, just give me a call."
"Thanks, Seungmin," Chan said, his voice sincere. "I really appreciate it."
Chan returned home and spent the entire afternoon working on the demo. The hours passed quickly as he focused on the task at hand, the steady rhythm of typing and the hum of his computer providing a temporary escape from his emotional turmoil.
As the evening approached, Chan received another message, this time from Han. Chan's heart sank as he saw the photos Han had sent. They showed Felix at the club, kissing another guy in front of a crowd. The images were a punch to the gut, a stark reminder of the world Felix was a part of and the pain it was causing Chan.
Han: Saw Felix at the club again. He's really into this scene, huh?
Chan's frustration boiled over. He wanted to confront Felix, to demand answers, but the helplessness of his situation only made him more angry. He decided to go to the club, hoping to get some clarity and confront Felix about everything.
The club was pulsating with energy as Chan arrived. The strobe lights flickered and the bass of the music thumped in his chest, creating an almost suffocating atmosphere. Chan navigated through the crowded dance floor, his eyes scanning the room for Felix.
He finally spotted him near the bar, surrounded by a group of people. Felix looked more at ease than Chan had ever seen him, laughing and drinking with the same crowd from the photos. Chan's heart sank further as he approached, his anger simmering beneath the surface.
