The night air was cool against Lila's warm skin as she and Riley exited the venue, their steps light from the lingering excitement.
The car waited at the curb, headlights slicing through the darkness. Her bodyguard guided them to the backseats, and the moment they settled into the soft leather, Riley's excitement spilled over.
"Oh my god, Lila!" Riley's voice was nearly a squeal. "Did you see the way Jungkook looked at you? He's totally into you!"
Lila felt her cheeks warm as her mind flashed back to the brief but intense moments she'd shared with the lead singer. She opened her mouth to respond, but Riley barreled on, too caught up in her enthusiasm to notice.
"Seriously! The way he kissed your hand, the way he couldn't stop staring– Lila, he's got a massive crush on you, if I've ever seen one!"
Lila's heart fluttered, but she tried to play it cool, a soft smile tugging at her lips. She wanted to dismiss it, to brush it off as Riley's overactive imagination, but the certainty in her cousin's voice gave her pause.
The truth was, she had felt something, too– something she hadn't fully processed yet.
"Riley, he was just being nice. They're all charming like that. That's what they do, they're rockstars," Lila reasoned, though her voice lacked conviction.
Her cousin shook her head, leaning in with eyes sparkling with mischief. "You forget, I've been a fan for a while. Yes, they're charming, but this was different. He wasn't just being nice– he was totally into you."
Lila swallowed dryly, her mind racing as she tried to reconcile the idea of someone like Jungkook actually being interested in her. It seemed impossible, yet Riley's words planted a seed of doubt in her rational explanations.
