The red hood fit perfectly.
It didn't touch the floor, which was a good thing.
The market was on fire
The little girl's hand held onto mine tight.
I look at the poster on the wall
And it says in big bold words
"Knightly tournament"
I take the poster and stuff it in my pocket.
A high-pitched squealing piercing the noisy market, coming from right next to me.
I see Amara pointing at something. A dog, not just any dog, a Doberman, and a stray.

"Can we keep her?" she asked her nanny.
"You will have to ask your father about that."
"I want him."
"She is a nasty stray. You could get sick."
She crossed her arms.
"Nauh! Besides, he would make a good surveillance dog."
"She is just a puppy."
Then I saw someone from the corner of my eye.
My eyes make contact with his heterochromia eyes.
"Sam?!"

Pushing through the crowd I raced down the dark alley. I started sprinting down the alley but he was too far ahead. Reaching out my hand I grabbed his arm almost missing and he turned and looked at me.
My breathing came to a short gasp but I looked him in the eyes. I wonder if this was the same guy I knew and loved as a kid.
I take a deep breath.
"Samuel, where have you been?" He was wearing armor, was he a knight of Zodel?
"Do I know you?"
As I stared into the eyes of the person I once loved, every ounce of my affection melted into suspicion...
"We met Over 5 years ago? You disappeared! Is this where you have been all this time Sam?"
"5 years ago? We should talk about this some other time. " He tried to walk away and I let him As soon as I heard Amara shout.

"Robin!!!!"

I walk to the sound and I notice the nanny holding multiple bags in her hands right next to the very happy Amara. His voice made me think back to the day first met. The day we first met was the day my mother was buried. To be exact I was nine. The body didn't look like my mother. I couldn't understand why no one was crying when I couldn't even sit through the ceremony. Then when I glanced at my dad my heart shattered when I saw he wasn't even frowning. Some were good friends with my mom and those people were reading. The sight made me sick. Did they not care? I don't even know how she died.

So I ran, I pushed open the church door not looking back. Not knowing where I was going Or where I was. Just running from reality. I sat down on a log and let it
all fall, my tears, my shoulders, my smile. "What are you doing?" I sniffle up my snot. I wiped the tears from my face so I could see better.
" You're crying?" I nodded. "I saw something pretty on my way here. Can I show you?"
I fiddle with the handkerchief in my hand. "Um, sure." He took me deeper into the woods while holding my hand. "Look, we are here." A waterfall. The sound of the rushing water was soothing,
My lips Parted, and my eyes widened. I take my shoes off and step into the freezing water lifting my dress. A laugh escaped my mouth. The fresh aroma of the waterfall made me feel slightly better. I splashed him with water. The sky was a light pink hue. I looked next to me and I noticed his eyes for the first time. They were different colors.
After that, I couldn't stop thinking about him
I step into the duke's house looking at the poster.
It's in a week, I look at the white Doberman sitting next to me. I hear Amara argue with her father about the dog. A slammed echo into my ear.
"OKAY FINE! You feed it and take care of it. It is your responsibility."  I look into the room and I see him for the first time. With black hair, he and Killian looked nothing alike.
She jumped up from her seat and ran out the door to see her new dog.
She hugged the blue-eyed puppy.
"I am going to name you.........cotton!"

I look up and I see the duke putting on a jacket to head out. He opened the door and his daughter heard him.
"Where are you going?" " I am going to get dog food for ..."
He looks down at the white Doberman, "Cotton." He didn't seem to like that name very much or maybe he just disliked the dog.

I fall onto my bed and I look at the piece of paper in my hand. I can't believe this, but it's real.
I hear someone knocking on the door, I tell them to come in Expecting it to be Amara.
Killian opens the door.

"What is that?" He said referring to the piece of paper in my hands, I shoved it into my pocket. "It's nothing. What did you need?"
"You haven't seen the horses yet, right?" I shake my head no. "No, I haven't."  he extended his hand out.
"Let me be the first to show you."

I grabbed onto his hand and he led me down the hallway. Something caught my eye, and I stopped still holding onto his hand looking at the portrait of two adult men. One that looks like the Duke and I don't know the other guy but he looks like Killian.
From top to bottom, he looks like an older version of him!

"It's a sad story my father and my uncle have, do you want to hear it?"
"Yes, I do." I could read his face as if he knew this was going to happen at one point.

"The blonde one is my father, the word we would use to characterize my father was psycho. I didn't learn that till later in life. He died, and at first, I wanted to take revenge on the killer. It didn't help but my uncle still wants to take revenge on the killer.
I am going to do my best to take after my uncle as the duke."
I wonder who the killer is, is it okay to ask?
"Um, what about the killer?"

"I don't know much about the killer, I know they lived in Xiona. That is for sure."
Xiona, that made me wonder if my dad was still alive.
"His name was James. My father."
I nodded.
