Chapter 29 - The Labyrinth

"Wyvern ahead!!!"

"Don't worry!~"

Amanda's whip flew through the air, wrapping around the Wyvern's wing before she proceeded to pull the giant thing out of the sky. It soon landed with a rather loud thud as it crashed into the ground.

"Dziel-"

"HAHA! AS IF I WOULDN'T!!!"

Dziel didn't need any instructions, he simply dove in and in moments, was attempting to put the Wyvern in a chokehold as the others watched the thing flail around desperately in an attempt to get away. Unfortunately, its neck was slowly twisted and soon it died.

"Part of me feels bad for the Wyvern."

"Y-yeah..."

Stela nodded in agreement.

I looked over the giant corpse of the wyvern and just felt bad for it. If I recall correctly, Gabiru had a pet wyvern that he was raising.

Regardless of that, we've made it...

Area 1, the place where I first entered this world.

Surprisingly, I didn't feel any terrifying or threatening presence nearby. The only thing I could tell was the absurd quantity of mana pouring out of a singular location within the center of this area.

"Let's begin looting this thing before moving on."

"Yeah buddy!"

Burdock quickly rushed over towards the Wyvern and began to violently pull out scales from its side, meanwhile Elizabeth cut deep into its chest.

I guess this is what happens when people don't have the Dismantling Skill.

"Hey! Rimuru! Can you store these!"

... these were still leaking blood.

"Alright..."

I put some away in my Pocket Dimension while secretly storing others within my Stomach.

I've been using the opportunity given here to begin reclaiming certain Skills that I ended up losing as a result of being transitioned to this world.

Body Armor, Paralyzing Breath, Poison Breath, Steel Thread, and Sticky Thread were among the few that I was successfully able to recover after having absorbed parts of their bodies while nobody was paying attention. Since we had been slaughtering large numbers of monsters, absorbing just four of the monsters shouldn't be too eye-catching for them since we had killed many duplicates of monsters just trying to make our way through the border region between Area 2 and Area 1.

Black Spiders, Tempest Serpents, Evil Centipedes, and Armorsaurus's to name a few but there were certainly loads of other monsters and they were still in massive quantities. The behavior of the monsters seemed to have altered in this area as well since they aren't particularly aggressive but become so once they perceive something as invading their territory... something which Dziel did frequently.

The only exception was that Corrupted Tempest Star Wolf which seemingly attacked them out of nowhere...

Elizabeth seemingly thought it was Dziel provoking it once again but he definitely hadn't according to his recounting of the entire situation. Everyone else doubted him for obvious reasons though.

The carcass of the Wyvern was soon cleared out of all its valuable materials with quite a load being simply placed in Vesper's item box. After all, they didn't want either of us to sustain the massive load of goods that we were collecting. I could easily do so but I wasn't about to say that since that would mean I would need to work extra.
