Chapter 19
"Seriously, Callista? You called me last night to drive you here at the Capitol?" reklamo ni Atty.
The cold wind from the air conditioner welcomed us in the lobby. Huminto ako at hinanap ang reception. The place was big. Not as modern as I expected but usual for a provincial capitol. Actually it looks fancy though. Shiny woods and white rocks and walls. Massive staircase.
"I don't have a car. Rohen will not let me borrow a service from the hacienda.
I pursed my lips and just ignored it. "You said I could call you anytime I need something. I need you to accompany me today, maliban sa wala akong sasakyan hindi ko rin alam ang pasikot-sikot dito."
"So you need a driver and a tour guide?" humakbang siya palapit.
"If you're busy you can leave me here. Ayokong abalahin ang buong araw mo." I didn't make any move.
Ngumisi ito at umiling. "I'll wait for you. I have free time today."
Tumaas ang kilay ko. "You do? Wala kang tina-trabahong kaso ngayon?"
"I used my time overnight. So I could have this free day."
Natigilan ako. O, is it because of me?
I cleared my throat and looked away. So weird. If Rohen would say that I might feel the butterflies in my stomach. "I'll treat you after all of these."
Natawa siya at lumiwanag ang mukha. "That's nice! I'll look forward to that, Atty. Monteves."
"Good morning, Ma'am. Appointments po?"
I bit my lower lip. "Yes. I would like to set-up an appointment directly to the Governor."
Agad siyang natahimik at nagkatinginan sila ng kasama niya. Kumunot ang noo ko. Why? Imposible ba?
I sighed silently. I already expected that. I know I have to go through a lot of appointment set-ups just to get to him. And I am willing. I will spend my remaining time here in Astalier waiting for his time.
"It's okay. I just went here to set-up an appointment. But as soon as possible, much better." I stated.
She clicked a couple of files I think because I heard it.
"If I will not be able to meet him today. Can you just please send this to him? As soon as possible, please."
"Kuya Mike!" sigaw nito bigla.
