Jarred Rivera was infamous, not for his exceptional skills, but for his status as a rank E hunter—the lowest rank in the hunter hierarchy. Known derisively as the "weakest among the weakest," he bore the scorn of others like a badge of dishonor.

Jarred's days were often filled with mockery from his peers. His small frame, worn-out equipment, and constant injuries only served to amplify their derision. Despite his efforts to maintain a brave face, the ridicule cut deep. He was aware of his limitations, and the pain came not from the taunts themselves, but from the painful truth they represented.

"Why don't you just quit being a hunter? You're going to get yourself killed," one of the hunters jeered. Laughter followed, echoing through the space as other hunters joined in the mockery.

"I can't stop now," Jarred replied, forcing a smile despite the sting of their words. "I need to make some money."

As he walked away, he remembered his mother's condition.

Mana Deficiency, a dire illness caused by prolonged exposure to magical stones, had afflicted her. If detected early, it could be treated, but otherwise, it led to Deep Sleep - a state akin to death. The prospect of losing her without a cure was unbearable.

Jarred had heard rumors of a miracle potion that could cure Mana Deficiency, though it was unverified and elusive. Still, he clung to the hope that he could find it and save his mother.

As the rain began to fall, he stopped, his shoulders slumping under the weight of despair. He wept openly, the rain mingling with his tears.

"Why am I so weak? Why am I so different from others?" he cried, his voice lost in the storm.

Minutes later, the rain eased, and Jarred noticed an elderly woman struggling to cross the street. Despite his sorrow, he rushed over to help her.

"Ma'am, are you alright? Let me help you," he offered.

The elderly lady looked up, her eyes twinkling with gratitude. "You're very kind."

Jarred managed a weak smile in return, but then a voice shouted from a distance. "Watch out! There's a truck!"

Jarred's heart leapt into his throat as he saw the truck speeding toward them. Instinctively, he shoved the elderly lady out of harm's way. The truck hit him with a sickening thud.

Baaang!

Thud

The impact sent Jarred sprawling, agony searing through him. He lay on the pavement, bloodied and in pain, crying out as he felt his life slipping away. His thoughts turned to his family—his mother and his younger sister, Hana.

"I don't want to die... Mom, I'm sorry; Hana, I'm sorry," he sobbed, his vision darkening.
