I'm not doing this. I'm just not. For gods' sake, out of all the immortal beings to rise again, it had to be Kronos.
"He better not have Luke's body again," I mumbled angrily, probably sounding like an idiot to the campers who I were striding past. Where was I going again? Oh right, the Hades cabin. I needed to tell Nico.
It took me about 5 minutes to get to his cabin, just because I kept getting sidetracked. A butterfly. Then a spear nearly impaling me (the owner's aim with a spear was clearly worse than mine with a bow and arrow, which is impressive). Various teens asking me what the matter was.
I raised my hand to knock on the Hades Cabin door, then stopped as I heard noises from inside. Was that-?
Yeah, no. I'll tell Nico later.
I flopped back down on my bunk upon reaching Cabin 3, and rolled onto my stomach with a groan.
Knowing the gods, they'd cut communication again. Maybe they were lying about Kronos rising just to have an excuse not to talk to us.
Unlikely, but not impossible.
Kronos should not, under any circumstances, be able to rise again so quickly. It had barely been 3 years since he last rose, and his mortal body dying should weaken him significantly.
So a primordial must be helping him.
Shit. I did not fancy fighting an immortal being stronger than the gods. Maybe I could put it on my to-do list in the future, but not today.
Annabeth might be able to help. Maybe she's busy though. I groaned, conflicted. She very well might be having a make out session with Piper, as Nico was with Will.
Risk it.
I sighed at my inner monologue.
Most of the time it got me into very awkward situations, so I didn't really know why I kept listening to it.
Wasn't going to stop me, though.
Getting up from my bed took me 5 minutes longer than it should've, due to procrastination.
I love myself.
Really.
I closed my cabin door a little louder than intended, cringing internally at the loud bang, and further shrinking into myself when heads turned.
The walk to Cabin 6 (A/N: I'm not sure if that's the right number, but I think it is) was short enough, and I knocked before entering.
"Annie?"
No response.
"Uh.. Annie?" I tapped her shoulder.
"Who the- oh gods, Percy, you scared the Tartarus out of me."
"...Sorry."
"Yeah, it's alright. Um, what did you want?"
I winced. "I was just informed that Kronos is rising again. Shit, sorry, that's a really bad way to break that news. Um, yeah."
She stared at me, bewildered. "What? How? He shouldn't be able to reform that quickly.. it should take him a few millennia-"
"That's what I said."
"I'll do some research. Just.. stay safe in the meantime. You'll be his first target if he is rising again. And the gods won't help this time, if you're the target."
"Wha- but I'll only be the target until I'm dead! Then the gods will be the target!"
"Yes, well, the gods aren't intelligent enough to think tha far ahead."
The sky rumbled.
"Piss off, Zeus!" I snapped, sticking one hand out of the door to flip the sky off. "Alright, I'll go now. Get back to me once you get any information, please?"
"Will do Seaweed Brain."
I grimaced minutely at the old nickname but didn't comment, leaving the cabin and heading to the big house.
I could faintly hear Dionysus and Chiron talking and went in the direction of their voices, finding them playing a card game of some sort.
Zeus had seemingly lifted Mr. D's alcohol ban, because the stench of beer was thick. Chiron didn't seem too bothered by it for some reason, but then again, he'd been stuck with the irritable god for a long, long time.
They were both old.
"Uh, Mr. D? Chiron?"
Chiron turned his head while Dionysus ignored me, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been expecting that.
"I was, um, informed about some 'stuff' you might be interested in."
"And that is?" Chiron asked, seemingly interested.
"I already know, boy," Mr. D drawled and I sighed.
Explanations were never fun.
A/N: hellooooo guys, sorry this update took me like, 7 years. If you have any plot ideas you'd like to see incorporated, please comment! I'm low on motivation and stuck for, well, ideas, so anything helps!
