Backstage Encounters
As Raw went off the air and the cheers from the crowd still echoed in the arena, Chris and Logan made their way back through the curtain. Their bodies ached from the grueling match, but the adrenaline from their victory kept them moving. The energy backstage was a stark contrast to the chaos that had just unfolded in the ring; crew members hurried around, and the sounds of equipment being packed away filled the air.
The brothers exchanged a glance as they walked down the hallway, their Tag Team Championship belts slung over their shoulders. Despite the successful defense, the looming threat of The Shield was still fresh in their minds.
"You know they're watching us," Logan said quietly, breaking the silence.
Chris nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah, I could feel their eyes on us the whole time. They’re not going to wait until Night of Champions to make their move. We need to be ready for anything."
Logan’s face tightened in thought. "We'll need to strategize. The Shield doesn’t play by the rules, and they’re as ruthless as they come. But we’ll be ready."
As they rounded the corner toward their locker room, they spotted Nikki Bella and Maryse waiting for them. Nikki’s face lit up with a smile as she saw Chris, while Maryse gave Logan a knowing smirk, her arms crossed casually.
“Well, if it isn’t the conquering heroes,” Nikki teased, her eyes gleaming with admiration.
Chris grinned, despite the weight of the belt on his shoulder and the soreness in his muscles. “You watched?”
“Of course we did,” Nikki replied, stepping forward and placing a hand on Chris’s chest. “You two were amazing out there. No one can touch you.”
Maryse nodded in agreement, her gaze shifting to Logan. “That was impressive. You’re both setting the standard around here. But I think you know as well as we do that The Shield isn’t going to let this go.”
Logan’s expression was serious as he met Maryse’s eyes. “We know. But they’re not the first team to think they can take us down, and they won’t be the last.”
Maryse’s smirk softened into a more genuine smile. “That’s true, but The Shield isn’t like the others. They’re calculated, unpredictable. You two need to stay on your toes.”
Nikki nodded, her hand still resting on Chris’s chest. “She’s right. You’ve got the skill and the power, but don’t underestimate what The Shield is capable of. They’ll try to get in your heads if they can’t beat you in the ring.”
Chris reached up and took Nikki’s hand in his, his grip firm but gentle. “We’re not taking them lightly, trust me. But as long as Logan and I stick together, there’s nothing they can do to break us.”
Logan remained quiet, but the look in his eyes spoke volumes. He was already planning, already thinking of ways to outmaneuver The Shield when the time came. They had been through so much together — as brothers, as a team — and he wasn’t about to let anyone come between them.
Nikki gave Chris’s hand a squeeze before letting go, her expression softening. “Good. Just remember, you’ve got people in your corner. You’re not in this alone.”
Maryse uncrossed her arms and stepped closer to Logan, her tone lighter than before. “You two might be champions, but even champions need to take a break once in a while. Why don’t we grab a late dinner and relax a bit? You’ve earned it.”
Logan glanced at Chris, who gave a slight nod, understanding that they both could use a bit of normalcy after the chaos of the night. Logan then turned back to Maryse, a small smile on his lips. “Sounds like a plan. We could use a break.”
Nikki beamed, clearly pleased with the idea. “Perfect. There’s a place just down the street from the hotel that’s open late. Let’s head there.”
Chris and Logan exchanged a final glance, the unspoken understanding between them stronger than ever. They had won tonight, but they both knew the real battle was still ahead. For now, though, they could afford to relax, if only for a few hours.
“Lead the way,” Chris said, his tone lighter than it had been all night.
The four of them made their way down the hallway, the tension from earlier slowly fading as they talked and laughed together. As they reached the exit, Chris paused, glancing over his shoulder one last time, as if expecting to see The Shield lurking in the shadows. But the hallway was empty, and the only sound was the distant hum of the arena being packed up for the night.
Logan noticed the hesitation in his brother and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “They’ll come for us eventually. But when they do, we’ll be ready.”
Chris nodded, his focus shifting back to the moment. “Yeah, we will. Let’s just enjoy tonight while we can.”
With that, the brothers stepped out into the night, their titles secure for now, but the road ahead uncertain. The Shield’s shadow loomed over them, but as long as they had each other — and a few friends by their side — Chris and Logan were confident they could face whatever came next.
As they walked into the cool night air, the sounds of the city buzzing around them, Chris couldn’t help but feel a sense of calm. No matter what happened, they were ready. And at Night of Champions, they’d show the world why they were the best tag team in WWE.
But tonight, they’d take a moment to breathe, to enjoy the victory they’d earned, and to remind themselves of the bond that had brought them this far. Together, they were unstoppable.
