Olivia stirred awake from the sun filtering through the windows, the remnants of sleep clinging to her as she blinked in the soft morning light. The room was quiet, save for the faint sounds of birds chirping outside. She stretched, feeling the slight ache in her muscles from the tension of the last few days.
Movement next to her caught her attention, and she flinched instinctively, her heart quickening in her chest. The events of the past few days had left her on edge, her body tense and ready to react to any threat. She reached for the knife, only to find her sweatshirt had been removed.
But then reality sank in, and she remembered where she was.
Felix.
She let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, the tension slowly ebbing away as she took in the sight of him. Felix was still asleep, his body curled slightly towards hers. His arm was draped across her waist, his hand resting lightly on her hip. Broad shoulders—bare shoulders—shifted under the covers as he moved, his hand brushing along her side. The simple, unconscious gesture brought a sense of security that she hadn't felt in a long time.
She couldn't help but smile softly, her heart swelling with affection. In this quiet moment, it was easy to forget the chaos and danger that lurked outside their little bubble. Here, it was just them, just Felix and Olivia, without the weight of the world pressing down on their shoulders.
She shifted slightly, trying to get more comfortable without disturbing him, but the movement only brought her closer to him. That's when she noticed it—the faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air. It was warm and woodsy, a mix of something earthy and something that was unmistakably him. The smell was intoxicating, wrapping around her like a comforting embrace, and she couldn't help but inhale deeply, letting it fill her senses.
The smell of alcohol on his breath was there too, but it wasn't as potent as his cologne.
Her pulse quickened as she took him in some more—how his hair curled and rested on his forehead, the slight scruff lining his jaw, the steady rhythm of his breathing. It was peaceful, too peaceful, compared to everything they'd been through. But that contrast made it all the more compelling. Here they were, in a fleeting moment of stillness, and she wasn't sure how long it would last.
She became more aware of the warmth radiating from his body, the closeness of him. The scent of his cologne, faint but lingering, wrapped around her like an invisible pull. She felt her stomach flutter in a way she hadn't expected, a warmth spreading through her at the thought of him, at the way his mere presence affected her.
Her eyes traveled down his tattooed arm, where her skin tingled where his hand rested on her hip, and she found herself hyper-aware of every point of contact between them—the way his leg brushed against hers, the steady rise and fall of his chest against her side.
Her body, like always, responded in subtle ways—her skin tingling, her breathing a little more shallow as the awareness of him sank deeper into her mind. It wasn't just the scent of him that drew her in, though that certainly played a part. It was the feel of him so near, the knowledge of everything they'd been through together, the tension and care woven into every interaction between them. Especially his words in his Lambo.
Olivia bit her lip, trying to quiet the stirrings that surged through her. She shouldn't be thinking like this. Not now, not after everything. But as Felix shifted again, his hand brushing her thigh lightly in his sleep, it sent a shiver up her spine that she couldn't ignore. It was like her body had a mind of its own, responding to him without hesitation.
She closed her eyes for a moment, fighting the heat that was rising within her, but the memory of his touch from times before only made it harder to push away. Felix, with all his strength and broading, had also shown her a softer side—one she was drawn to, one she craved.
