Manuel
My blood turned to water when I caught Enzo sneaking out of his room at night. It never crossed my mind until one day, when I woke up at 4 am, I saw him returning from outside, reeking of alcohol and cigarettes.
"What the hell are you doing? You're not allowed to do that!" I yelled, and he promptly vomited.
"You are 15. You are not supposed to drink, you stupid," I blamed Enzo. More than drinking, I worried about him sneaking out alone from the house, putting himself in danger. The first thing that came to my mind was what the hell I would do if he got kidnapped or something like that happened again. I didn't think I could face that kind of thing again. If it happened once more, I would go crazy.
I helped him go to his room and gave him a long lecture. He acted like he was listening to me, staring at me with those dark eyes while lying in bed.
"Why are you doing these kinds of things, Enzo? Why are you doing this to me?" I asked him firmly, touching his arm. My voice was shaking with fear because I was so worried about him.
"Let me sleep, Papa. I want to sleep," he said, trying to turn to the other side, ignoring me. But I turned him to my side and turned his face to look at me, touching his cheek.
"Listen to me, baby. Promise me you'll never do that again," I said, but his eyelids were closed, and he went to sleep. I didn't try to wake him up. I kissed his forehead and went to my room with a worried heart.
Enzo never promised me that he wouldn't sneak out again. Whenever I asked him to promise, he ignored me, making me angry. Whenever I demanded his word, he was quick to remind me of his position as my employer, making it clear that he was the one calling the shots. At those times, I had to shut the fuck up. I knew Enzo was trouble. Well, he was a jerk if I spoke the truth. I realized I couldn't trust him. So, I secretly put sensors outside his door and window.
A few days later, the sensors' alarm in my room made a beep sound around 11 am, letting me know that Enzo was trying to leave again. I hid behind bushes to find out how he snuck out of the house. I saw his figure coming towards me. There was a small gate on the right side of the house. He started to climb it, and I caught him before he could jump the gate. First, he tried to struggle, not knowing it was me. I think he got scared.
"It's me. It's me," I said, and Enzo looked at me with surprise.
"What are you doing?" He asked me.
"I'm the one who should ask that question from you, Boss," I said, putting more weight on the word 'Boss'.
Enzo said nothing as he got caught.
"Okay, let's go to your room. You don't even let me sleep peacefully. Do you?" I said to him, and he said nothing, just staring at the ground.
I walked him to his room and went back to my room. After a few minutes, the alarm rang again. When I opened the door to go outside, I saw him coming towards my room. He began pleading with me to let him go, giving me plenty of reasons to justify his release. None of the reasons made sense.
"No, you can't. Now let me sleep," I insisted, lying on my bed. Enzo lay next to me, but instead of sleeping, he started checking his phone, the light flashing in my face. He was restless, shaking his legs and making the bed bounce, which messed with my sleep. The sound of him typing on his phone was annoying, too. I was sure he was trying to get back at me, so I grabbed his phone and threw it on the couch. Then, I wrapped my legs and arms around him tightly, preventing him from moving anymore.
"Aw, aw, let me go," Enzo protested.
"If you don't let me sleep, this is what I'll do. You'll have to stay like this until morning, until I wake up, okay? I work all day following you around, so at least I need a break at night," I asserted, my anger evident.
