(Sophie's POV)

Me and Keefe rushed to the Healing Center of Foxfire, leaving Kira behind to stay with the kids.

"What happened?" I asked Elwin as I stared at Biana. One of her legs was wrapped in a thick cast, and the side of her face was marked with a new scar that had already been treated, along with a bunch of bruises and other cuts.

Elwin glanced at us. He had dark circles under his eyes as his eyes narrowed and he whispered, "Alden turned on us."

"WHAT?!" Me and Keefe exclaimed.

"I don't know when, but he's been a double agent this whole time. It's how we've gotten leaks and how we've failed so many times. Now the Vackers don't even know if they can trust their own mother, let alone their siblings." Elwin shook his head sadly. "Even one betrayal is hard, but two?" He sighed, glancing back at Biana. "This is gonna be hard for all of us. But when Biana discovered Alden's secret, she tried to escape unnoticed and she was caught. She fought as hard as she could. Don't worry, she's stable and everything, and of course, she's a strong girl and she got away, which will set the Neverseen back a little bit. But I think you guys are gonna have to help her mentally." Elwin mumbled.

Keefe collapsed on the nearest cot. "He tricked us. All these years. He was like a father figure to me, and now..." He punched the wall, leaving blood on his knuckles. Elwin sighed heavily and told him to stop punching walls before he went to go get bandages for Keefe.

"How do we know we can trust anybody?" Keefe whispered. "What if I'm being tricked by everyone in my life?"

"I would never trick you like that, Keefe, really. I promise." I said, trying to lighten the mood. He didn't smile.

"Keefe, you don't trust me?" I whispered.

"No, I do. It's just..." He sighed. "I'm tired of being lied to and being used. I've had enough of it. And now it's not only ruining my life, but also other people that I care about, and that shouldn't slide. We have to do something."

"Okay, what should we do?" I asked.

Before Keefe could respond, Biana's eyelids fluttered and she shot up, breathing heavily. "No!" She shouted. She struggled against her cast, trying to get out of her cot.

"Biana! What are you doing? What's going on-" My questions stopped when I realized Biana had gone still. Immediately, she sat back down and stared at the ground. Elwin settled her back into place, but the look in her eyes made me think her thoughts were somewhere else.

"Biana?" I asked tentatively. "Are you okay?"

"Dad's gone." She whispered. "We're too late."

"What are you talking about?" Keefe asked.

"I put a tracker on my dad. He switched over to the Neverseen, and... The tracker power screen faded in my dream..." Her eyes widened. "Wait... That wasn't a dream, it was..." She stared at her casted foot. "It was real. Now I don't know where he is."

"Where did the tracker turn off?" I asked.

"When he reached the end of the Earth's atmosphere. He's either in space, or something weird is stirring." Biana whispered. "And I have a feeling it's not gonna be cupcakes and alicorns."
