Valentina's pov:
"Listen to me very carefully," I say talking to all of my men and women in front of me. "If any of you even think of doing something to Blake's people, I swear to God that will be your last thought. Does everyone understand that?"
"Yes ma'am." Echoes through the room and I nod.
"Good. Now get in your cars and go to the location that I sent to you." I order and all of them nod goong to their cars. "Let's go." I say to Jason and we both walk out to our car. He opens the door for me and I get in taking a deep breath.
I run a gand through my hair as I glance outside. It is very late right now and the only thing you can see in the city is the blinding lights. The only thing running through my mind is my sister and how terrified she must be.
Sometimes I hate all of this. I hate that she gets dragged into this. I tried my best to keep her from it but my father insisted she gets involved. It's a family business is what he says.
Pretty soon the car comes to a stop and I notice a bunch of other black SUV's parked outside the building. As I exit the car so do all my men and women.
I scan the area noticing Blake leaned against a wall with a cigarette between her lips. "Stay here." I tell everyone before walking over to Blake.
Her gaze drops towards me and she drops the cigarette stepping on it to turn it off. "Hey." She says blowing the last bit of smoke from her mouth.
"Hi." I offer her a smile. "What's the plan?"
"All of my guys have split up into groups of 4 and they will be trying to find his location. So I'm thinking your guys could join them." Blake explains. "My guys can find him easily but I won't do anything you don't want to do. You call the shots Val." She adds and I nod.
"Alright sounds good." I say walking away from her.
After briefing my men on what is going on they have split off to work with Blake's staff. Currently I have walked out of the building to try and catch some air outside. This is all really overwhelming and I am running on no sleep.
"You good?" I hear a voice behind me. I turn around seeing Blake standing there with a soft smile on her face.
"Yeah, yeah I'm good." I nod my head. My gaze drops to her hands and I notice them shaking. My eyebrows furrow but she notcies, quickly showing her hands in her pockets.
"I'm fine." She says.
"Is that cus of the hospital meds or something?" I ask.
"No, I just-" she thinks for a moment before shaking her head. "I'm just tired." She shrugs but I don't buy it.
"You sure?" I ask coming closer to her. "You can talk to me." I trace my finger down her arm and she sighs.
"Stop it." She warns. I pull my finger away and step away a little bit. I was a bit too close to her to be honest.
"Old habit I guess." I shrug my shoulder and she sighs again.
"I know it is." Her blue eyes meet mine and I smile making her lips tug into a smirk as well.
"Thank you by the way." I say. "I really appreciate this."
"You basically saved my life Val, it's the least I can do." She shrugs her shoulders. "What did your dad say to this?" She asks curiously.
"He doesn't know." I sigh. "It's my mafia to run, I don't care what he has to say."
"True." She nods.
Silence envelopes us and for a second I forget where we are. For a second all I can focus are her eyes which keep looking at mine. Suddenly I feel like I'm 18 again, 18 and with Blake opposite me, not as an enemy never as an enemy. At least at that age. She was not an enemy when I was 18.
She became an enemy at 19 when my father found out who I was hanging out with. Nothing in the world could have prepared me for him turning Blake from someone I could have loved to someone I hated with every fiber in my body.
"I'm sorry Blake." I sigh.
"For?"
"Breaking your ribs." I say and she giggles but quickly places a hand over her ribs as she hisses.
"Not my first rodeo." She comments and I smile.
"You've had them broken before?" I ask.
"Yeah, prison isn't very nice you know?" She answers and I nod.
"I've never been."
"I know." She nods. "Let's hope you never do go."
"Yeah hopefully." I nod in agreement.
"Val I-"
"Boss." She gets cut off from one of my guys who came outside.
"What?" I ask.
"We got something, not a location but something and I think you guys want to see it."
Blake and I exchange glances and follow him inside immediately without another word.
