Author's Note:

Sorry for the long wait! This book will officially have slow updates. So even if it takes me awhile, it will eventually get finished. My life has been a mess and there's a lot that I don't want to go into detail about. But I hope you enjoy this chapter and I hope someone is still reading this book even though it's been months. 🩵 *I also put the gif under the quote this time around lol* Also, the fight scene sucks so I apologize. I have always been bad at writing this scene, even in my previous book.

Also... the eyes at the top may or may not have to do with Brenna's powers... and they may or may not appear in this chapter. 🤪

Embry and Brenna had fallen asleep late the night before, meaning that when it was time to race up the mountain, Brenna was far from pleased. She had gotten a total of three hours of sleep. That was better than nothing but her body was still yearning to close her eyes and continue sleeping.

"Is there a reason that Seth couldn't just stay with me at my house?" Brenna asked Embry as the pair got dressed. Brenna made sure to put extra layers on knowing that it would be cold on the mountain, while Embry casually threw on a pair of shorts, his body already being hot due to his wolf nature.

"I need you safe, Bren." Embry replied as he grabbed her car keys. He was going to park in an empty parking lot, semi-close to where he would carry the girl up the mountain. Mainly, so she wouldn't be cold longer than she had to be. "Even if I hate the Cullens, I know Edward and Seth will take care of you."

Brenna gave her boyfriend a look while turning her heat up, "You're saying you don't trust Seth to be able to protect me?" She asked knowing good and well that it wasn't what he meant.

"Seth is young, and of course fights like this excite him. I am just worried that if he's alone he'll be too excited and mess something up. He's our little brother, but he still has some learning." Embry explained.

After that Brenna didn't say anything, trying to keep her body warm knowing that she'll be freezing within the next thirty minutes. As soon as they got to the parking lot the couple got out and made sure no one was around before heading towards the woods. It wasn't long before Embry was carrying the girl bridal style and running up the bottom of the mountain.
