Chapter 71

"Mei Ming, it's time for dinner." Mother Zhou called out as she brought the dishes to the table.

In the bedroom, Zhou Mingming lay on the bed, holding her phone with both hands, her slender white legs gently swaying.

She opened Su Qi's WeChat chat history, looking at their conversation from ten days ago. She opened the emoji menu, ready to select one to send to him.

They had exchanged contact details on the day of Mo Sui and Gu Yicheng's wedding.

That night, the wind was strong, and Zhou Mingming, dressed in a thin bridesmaid dress, accompanied the newlyweds to toast with the groomsmen. She was shivering with cold and gave frantic hints with her eyes. Finally, Su Qi took off his suit jacket and gave it to her.

Though he didn't even know how to help drape the jacket over her shoulders, Zhou Mingming was instantly smitten by his clean and handsome appearance in a white shirt.

She took the initiative to get her phone out and asked him to add her contact information.

After returning home, Zhou Mingming waited a few days, expecting him to contact her. But to her surprise, he was as silent on WeChat as he was in real life, remaining quietly in her friends list without a single message.

Zhou Mingming decided to take the initiative.

She loved fiercely and hated equally, having had several relationships over the years with clear-cut breakups. She didn't need to guess or analyze a man's thoughts; she would simply do what she believed was right.

However, when she offered to return the jacket, he actually refused, saying he was on duty.

Zhou Mingming was rarely thwarted and rarely analyzed Su Qi's thoughts in depth, but in the end, she couldn't figure anything out, so she decided not to think about it.

"Mei Ming, dinner!" Mother Zhou, wearing an apron and holding a spatula, pushed open her bedroom door impatiently. "You've always been like this, needing to be called to meals!"

"Coming, coming." Zhou Mingming tossed her phone onto the bed, linking her arm with her mother's as they walked out. "Let me smell what delicious food you've made. Why does my mom's cooking always smell so good!"

...

At six in the evening, Su Qi finished work.

He took off his white coat and hung it up, then took his phone out of his coat pocket.

When the phone screen lit up and he saw dozens of unread messages on WeChat, he was momentarily startled.

All of them were emojis sent by Zhou Mingming, a variety of them.

Some were cute, some were funny, and some were strange.

He was used to keeping his phone on silent while working, and now, as he scrolled through the emojis one after another, a smile appeared on his lips.

The last emoji was sent two minutes ago, and there were no more after that.

Su Qi hesitated for a moment, his long, well-defined fingers paused on the screen's keyboard, and after a while, he typed a single line: "Did you send this by mistake?"

The message went unanswered for a long time.

Su Qi went to the cafeteria to eat. After a few bites, he took out his phone to check, then put it back in his pocket.

Did she really send it by mistake?

Not far away, a group of young nurses were eating while watching Dr. Su.
