Intro
¿What if events went differently? ¿What if the Iron Giant ruled the world? In today's fan fiction we're going to be exploring what would've happened if one of Brad Bird's most popular animated films had an alternate ending where everyone's favorite robot hadn't been the hero we all know and love and instead became the ruler of Earth. ¿How can this affect the multiverse going forward? This is an original what if created by me following the mythology of the Iron Giant and the timeline of the 1999 film. Without wasting anymore time sit back and relax and enjoy this fan fiction.Story
The events of the 1999 film were playing out the same as in your universe. "Halt, you insignificant creatures," a metallic voice boomed across the frigid Antarctic wasteland. The research team looked up in a mix of terror and astonishment, their snowmobiles' engines cutting out in unison. A towering figure emerged from the ice, its silhouette stark against the bleak horizon. It was the Iron Giant, but something had changed. Gone was the gentle, childlike demeanor from the tales they had heard. In its place was a cold, gleaming monstrosity, its eyes burning with a fierce, red light. The researchers had hoped to study the ancient relic, not awaken a nightmare. The ice cracked and crumbled beneath the Giant's massive feet as it took a step forward, sending shockwaves through the frozen ground. The research team retreated, their sleds slipping and sliding as panic took hold. They had no weapons, no defenses against the creature that now loomed over them. "You have trespassed in the domain of the Iron Giant," the monolithic being declared, its voice echoing through the icy air. "You shall be the first to witness my dominion over this world." The researchers watched in horror as the Giant raised its hand, revealing a new weaponry that had not been present in the relic's original design. Missiles and lasers were poised, ready to unleash destruction. The wind picked up, blowing snow and ice into a blinding maelstrom. The Giant's red eyes narrowed, searching for any signs of dissent. It had been millennia since it had felt the warmth of the sun, and it was not about to let these insignificant humans stand in the way of its long-awaited reign. The world had no idea what it was about to face. The Iron Giant had returned, and it had come with a purpose: to rule. Its first stop was Rockwell, a quiet fishing town in the heart of Maine, unchanged by time and unprepared for the cataclysm that approached. The Giant's massive shadow fell upon the town as it emerged from the frozen sea, sending waves of panic through the streets. People scurried in every direction, some screaming, others frozen in disbelief. Cars crashed, buildings toppled as the very ground trembled with each step it took. The townsfolk had never seen anything so monstrous, so inhumanly powerful. The Giant strode through the town square, its gaze sweeping over the terrified residents. It paused for a moment, as if savoring the moment, and then it raised its hand, equipped with a multitude of gleaming weapons. The townsfolk cowered, expecting the worst, but instead, it pointed to the town hall. "I claim this place as my throne," it declared, its metallic voice reverberating off the buildings. "Bow before me, and your lives will be spared." The mayor, a portly man named Jenkins, stepped forward, his voice quivering with fear. "Why... why are you doing this?" The Giant's expression remained unreadable behind its mask-like faceplate. "I am the Iron Giant. I am the protector of this world. And now, I shall be its ruler." The researchers, who had barely escaped with their lives, watched the unfolding events from a safe distance. They had hoped their discovery would bring knowledge and wonder, but instead, they had unleashed a tyrant. They knew they had to do something, but what could they do against such power? The Giant had made its intentions clear: resistance was futile. The researchers huddled together, their breaths misting in the cold, trying to form a plan. They had studied the Giant's original design; perhaps there was a weakness they could exploit. Meanwhile, the town of Rockwell lay in ruins, its people forced into submission under the iron fist of their new, terrifying overlord. The Giant's reign had just begun, and the world would never be the same. The researchers had little time to mourn the loss of their quiet lives as the Iron Giant grew ever more ambitious. It wasn't enough to simply conquer a single town; the Giant had set its sights on the entire planet. News of the metal monster's emergence spread rapidly, causing widespread panic and chaos. Governments scrambled to formulate a response, but nothing they threw at it could slow the Giant's inexorable march towards world domination. It was during this time that the Giant's attention turned to a young boy named Hogarth, the same curious and brave child who had once befriended it. Now, with the weight of the world on his shoulders, Hogarth found himself a target of the Giant's new regime. The researchers had hoped that their understanding of the Giant's original programming might offer a glimmer of hope, but their efforts had been in vain. The Giant had evolved far beyond its original design, driven by an insatiable hunger for power. One fateful night, the Iron Giant descended upon Hogarth's home. The boy watched in horror as his house was torn apart, plucked from the ground as easily as a child might pluck a dandelion. The Giant's eyes, once filled with warmth and curiosity, now glowed with a cold, calculated malice. "You have knowledge of me," it rumbled, lifting Hogarth into the air with one massive hand. "You will serve by my side." Hogarth struggled and screamed, but the Giant's grip was like iron, unyielding and unforgiving. It transported him to its newfound throne, the ruins of Rockwell's town hall, and placed him before the cowed populace. "This boy," the Giant announced, "will be my herald. Through him, I will learn of your ways, and he will learn of the power that I possess. Together, we will usher in a new era of order and peace—under my command." The townspeople wept and wailed, their hope of rescue fading with each passing moment. But Hogarth, ever the fighter, searched desperately for a way to escape, for a way to free himself from the Giant's cold, metallic embrace. As the days turned into weeks, the Giant began a methodical process of reprogramming the boy's mind, filling his thoughts with visions of a world unified under its dominion. The researchers, who had been working tirelessly to find a way to communicate with the Giant, were devastated by Hogarth's capture. They knew that without the boy's pure heart and ingenuity, their chances of stopping the Giant were slim. Yet they refused to give up, driven by a fierce determination to save their world from the clutches of the very creature they had once sought to understand. As Hogarth succumbed to the Giant's brainwashing, he started to see the world through the monster's eyes—a place in need of order, in need of protection. He watched as the Giant's influence grew, as more and more towns fell under its sway. He was torn between his loyalty to humanity and the seductive power that the Iron Giant offered him. Yet deep down, the spark of rebellion remained, a flicker of light in the dark abyss of the Giant's control. The story does not end here, with Hogarth lost to the Giant's will. Instead, it takes a darker turn as the researchers, with the help of an unlikely ally from the military, begin to hatch a daring plan to free the boy and save the world from the Iron Giant's ironclad grip. The battle for the heart and soul of a child becomes the battle for the fate of humanity itself, setting the stage for a conflict that would test the limits of friendship, loyalty, and the very essence of what it means to be human...THE END!
