Chapter 1: Unlikely EncountersXandra was a quiet, studious girl known for her glasses, love for books, and tendency to get lost in her own thoughts. On the other hand, Riki was the epitome of a bad boy, with his leather jacket, rebellious attitude, and a reputation for trouble. One day, their paths crossed in the most unexpected way…
At the local high school, a new girl was making her way through the bustling hallways. Xandra, a shy and studious young lady, was a bit out of place among the boisterous students. Her neatly pressed uniform and the glasses perched on her nose made her look more like a bookworm than a typical teenager. Clutching her stack of textbooks against her chest, she scanned the sea of faces for her locker.
As Xandra turned a corner, she stumbled upon a small gathering of students. They stood by her locker, engaged in an animated conversation. One of them, a boy with a leather jacket and tousled hair, noticed her approach and turned to his friends, nudging them and whispering something. They all broke into a chorus of laughter.
Xandra halted, a mixture of confusion and mild alarm. She had hoped to slip into her new school unnoticed, but it seemed she had already drawn attention. As she mustered the courage to continue, the boy with the leather jacket stepped away from the group, swaggering towards her. His carefree smile didn’t reach his sharp eyes, which held a hint of mischief.
Xandra felt a warm, unfamiliar sensation as she gazed at Riki. It was a feeling she couldn't quite put into words. His rugged exterior hid a depth of emotion that intrigued her, and the way he looked at her stirred something within her unlike anything she had ever experienced before
Riki closed the distance between them, his grin widening as he sized her up. His gaze traveled from her polished shoes to her tousled hair, causing her to swallow nervously. He leaned against the locker next to hers, arms crossed, as if he owned the place.
"New here, aren't you?" Riki drawled, arching an eyebrow.Xandra gripped her books tighter, willing herself not to shrink under his scrutiny. "Y-yes," she managed, her voice betraying a hint of nervousness. "It's my first day.”
Riki chuckled, the sound like a low rumble in his chest. He leaned in a bit closer, and Xandra caught a whiff of a spicy, masculine scent. "And what’s your name, new girl?”
"Xandra," she said, her voice softer than she intended. She cursed her heart for betraying her by beating a little faster.
Riki nodded, his eyes never leaving her face. "Xandra," he repeated, as if testing the sound of her name on his tongue. "A pretty name, fitting for someone so...innocent.”
Heat rose in Xandra's cheeks at his remark. She bristled at his assessment of her innocence. "What makes you think I’m innocent?" she retorted, finally meeting his gaze, her eyes flashing with defiance.
Riki let out a scoff, his smirk growing wider. "It’s written all over you," he said, gesturing towards her neat uniform and tidy appearance. "The way you carry yourself, the way you look at me... You’ve never seen a guy like me before, haven’t you?”
Xandra's lips pressed into a thin line. He was right, in a sense. Growing up in a sheltered household, she hadn’t been exposed to the rougher aspect of life. But she refused to acknowledge that aloud. "And what kind of guy are you, exactly?" she shot back.
Riki chuckled again, his eyes glittering with amusement. He leaned in even closer, so close that Xandra could feel his breath against her skin. "The kind that will shatter your innocence, Xandra," he murmured, his voice like a caress.
Xandra's breath hitched. His words sent a shiver down her spine, both a thrill and a warning. She forced herself to stand her ground, her chin lifting in defiance. "You think you can break me?" she challenged, her voice wavering only slightly.
Riki chuckled, clearly amused by her bravery. "Oh, princess, I don’t need to break you," he taunted, his gaze wandering over her again, taking in her determination and frailty all at once. "A pretty thing like you will fall all on your own.”
