Sticky fingers and vibrantly colored crayons filled the kindergarten classroom as the sounds of loud chatter and giggles took up the air. The bell had rung not even one minute prior and already the room of five year olds had descended into utter chaos. At the front of the room, with his hand firmly on the handle as if he was the gatekeeper of a great flood that would soon engulf the classroom, Taylor cleared his throat and called out to the little gremlins."Alright Munchkins, you have to be sitting at your desks with your bags ready to go in twenty seconds if you want me to open this door and let your parents in!". With an immediate effect, Taylor Campbell's entire kindergarten class scrambled to their school bags and flung them over to their small plastic chairs, eager to return to their allocated desks so that their teacher would no longer gate keep their favorite adults from entering the room.
Taylor ran an exhausted hand through his dark, slightly curled but slightly quiffed hair and sighed. It had been a long day filled with learning, running around, coloring and general kindergarten fun- which Taylor loved, not a day went by where he didn't love the career path he'd chosen- but on a Friday afternoon he'd about had enough of the decibel levels created by a gaggle of 25 children. Once all of those children had quietened down to an acceptable level, Taylor yanked the handle and pushed the door open, giving the cue to the waiting parents that they could come in and collect their tiny humans. Slowly parents started to trickle into the classroom, finding their children. Some were bending down to ask their kids about their adventure-filled day in the classroom and others were on tight schedules, ushering their kids straight out the door while carrying their backpacks in order to move fast. Taylor walked over and knelt down to the spacious carpeted area in front of the whiteboards to begin cleaning up some of the toys left out by the class. Suddenly two little hands with those pesky sticky fingers appeared in front of him, helping to throw some blocks into the basket nearby.
"Lucy, what are you doing? You can just sit at your desk and wait for your mother, I'll clean this up". Taylor looked down at the small girl with her golden blonde locks tied up into a cute little ponytail with what he knew to be her favorite scrunchy (she had made sure to tell him for three days straight that it was her favorite after she got it).
"It's okay Mr Campbell, I can help, my daddy always says that if I make a mess that I should learn to tidy it up. I used these." She stood up from the spot she was kneeling, gave her young teacher a cheesy smile and then skipped back to her desk. Taylor watched as her eyes suddenly lit up to a level the teacher didn't think was possible, he followed her gaze up to an intimidatingly tall figure making his way towards the small kindergartener. Taylor looked all the way up at the six-foot-five man's face as he said hello and waved over to his daughter. He took a knee next to her desk to inspect the drawings she had completed throughout the day and it was only after his knee took the long trip to the carpet that Taylor got a real clear view of this man. He had piercing blue eyes, impressively tanned skin, perfectly tousled light brown hair matched with a respectable amount of stubble. As he reached out to pick up Lucy's artworks, Taylor found his eyes following the man's toned arms down to his hands, his large hands with proportionately long digits. Naturally, Taylor still had a level of immaturity present in most twenty one year olds and thought that if this man had big hands, he must have big feet- a size 15 seemed like a good estimate made by the young kindergarten teacher who suddenly realised that he was blatantly checking out one of his student's fathers. Taylor abruptly peeled his eyes off of Lucy's father and stood up having finished cleaning up the blocks.
As he put the basket of blocks to the side and made his way over to the little girl and her father, he noticed just how genuinely enthralled by the five year old the other man seemed to be. Whilst other parents in the room were impatiently waiting for their children to end their stories behind their colorful squiggles, Lucy's dad was giving her his undivided attention and happily supported his little girl's finished products. Eventually Lucy stood up to collect her bag from the back of her small chair and her father regained his stance, gently pushing the chair into her desk for her. He turned to look at Taylor who was making his way closer to the pair, flashing him a charming smile with his perfect teeth on display. Taylor just about melted.
