Y/N sprawls across the front counter at the Mystery Shack, staring up at the ceiling and idly counting the protruding nails out of pure boredom.
"Hey," Wendy says as she approaches, giving him a nudge in the stomach.
Y/N grunts and pushes himself up into a sitting position. "Hey. Where's Soos?"
"He went with Mr. Pines to pick up those kids, should be back pretty soon." Wendy replies, settling onto her stool and flipping open a magazine.
Y/N raises an eyebrow. "What kids?"
"Dude, the kids we had to clean out the attic for. Mr. Pines' great grand neicephews... or something." Wendy shrugs, "They're like, staying here for the summer."
"Oh, right." Y/N slides off the counter. "I wonder if they'll be cool."
"I'm not sure. Stan said they're around 12 or so—little kids." Wendy flips to the next page of her magazine.
"Hey, I was 12 just a couple of months ago," Y/N says, folding his arms.
"Yeah, and you're still a little kid," Wendy smirks.
"Just try to get along, okay?"
"What do you mean?" Y/N furrows his brows.
"You know what I mean," Wendy sighs, "Be nice." She gives him a knowing look over the brim of her magazine.
"Hey! I'm ni—" Y/N is cut off by the sudden crash of the door to the shack slamming open. He turns to see a girl about his age bursting through.
Without missing a beat, she drops her bag by the entrance and rushes over to the artifacts on the walls, her eyes light up more with everything she sees.
Moments later, a boy walks in behind her. He looks almost identical to the girl but with a noticeable shift in attitude. He drags his bags inside and surveys the place with a look of disgust, as if he's stepped into a filthy out-house.
"Ah, good, my employees are still here." Stan strides in, giving the younger boy a pat on the head as he passes. "I need someone to show these two to their room."
"Y/N will do it," Wendy says without looking up.
"Hey, wait—"
"Thanks, sport." Stan gives Y/N a quick pat on the shoulder before heading into the living room.
Before long, Y/N finds himself hauling the kid's bags up the stairs to the attic. He opens the door to the plain room and steps aside to let them in.
"Hi!" The girl's excited voice catches him off guard. "I'm Mabel, but you can call me the girl of your dreams!" She bursts into loud laughter and playfully punches him on the arm. "I'm kidding!"
"Hi..." Y/N winces, rubbing the spot where she hit him and refraining from saying anything... not nice.
"Sorry about her," the other boy says as he enters, following his sister. "I'm Dipper."
"Dipper?" Y/N raises an eyebrow while placing Mabel's bags on the bed.
"His real name is Mason," Mabel calls out, rifling through the drawers next to her bed.
