"How did you know our dress code?" I asked, genuinely puzzled. He was focused, transferring my photos from my phone to his, completely ignoring the shock that must have been clear on my face.

It was twin/group day at college, and our group had meticulously planned our outfits-a baby pink and off-white color combination. To my utter disbelief, Akshnav had shown up in a baby pink shirt and off-white pants, matching me perfectly.

"I know every detail about my girl." He said with casual ease, making me roll my eyes instinctively. His confidence, his smugness-everything about him just screamed arrogance.

Before I could even fully process his words, I suddenly felt his hand on my neck, choking, pulling me closer in a gesture that made my heart pound with a mixture of fear and anticipation.

"Roll your eyes one more time and I-"

"You'll what?" I snapped, batting his hand away and stepping back, annoyed at both his words and my reaction to them.

"I'll help you roll your eyes so many times that you'll be terrified to think about doing it at me again." His voice was low and dangerous, sending a shiver down my spine. For a second, I couldn't breathe.

I snapped out of my thoughts when my phone buzzed in my hand. He casually handed it back to me, his demeanor shifting as though nothing had just happened. I glanced at the screen to see a message from my mom:

Come home as soon as you can.

"Where are you going?" Kuhoo's voice broke through, bringing me back to reality. I hadn't even realized I was already standing up, bag in hand.

"Mom just texted me to come home. Don't ask why because I have no idea." I replied, already bracing for her curiosity.

"Let's go! I'll give you a ride." Akshnav offered-no, commanded. Before I could protest, he grabbed his keys and started walking out as if it had already been decided.
