"Here you use the blanket i'll just use my jacket." Jake said handing me the blanket. We had finished eating our food after he had told me there was only one blanket for us both to use.
"I couldn't do that, it always gets chillier in the night and your jacket won't be enough to keep you warm." I said. There was only option for us both to use it. We'd have to share.
The mattresses were already pushed close together but we ended up sleeping on one because of the blanket. We turned the light off and laid down, my hair facing Jake. I had purposely given more of the blanket to Jake since his clothing was a little more thin than mine.
"Hey Na-Ra," Jake whispered in the dark, "i'm going to move you closer." Jake said, i didn't have any time to ask questions.
I felt his warm hand slide into my waist and he gently pulled me closer against his chest. I felt both of our hearts beating in sync and it made me smile a little. I was glad he couldn't see my tainted cheeks in the dark.
"If you still feel cold tell me." His hand was just about to leave my waist it felt like he almost didn't want to. Without thinking i held his hand and placed it back on my waist.
"oh you want me to keep my hand there?" I could sense the smirk in his voice.
"yeah" I replied.
"You know i'm your bodyguard right princess?"
"Not for today you're not." His hand slightly tightened around me but not in an uncomfortable way. It almost felt like he was spooning me. We both soon drifted off to sleep.
The next morning i had woken up before Jake, we were still in the same position as the night before. I turned around to face him and traced his features along his face. The sun was still rising and streaks of the sky reflected against his face.
I slowly got out of his embrace and freshened up, changing into my clothes from yesterday. I decided to let him sleep a little more and explore the boarding house.
Mrs Nam and Mr Nam, the owners, were awake. Mr Nam was preparing breakfast while his wife was outside drying spices until she noticed me.
"You're awake dear." She said gesturing me to sit next to her, "did you both sleep well?"
"Yes we did thank you for helping us." I said after taking a seat.
