I finally make it to first period, ten minutes late. As soon as I open the door to Mr. Crutch's room, he turns to me,

"Jennifer, ten minutes late, I see?" I gulp, feeling utterly defeated, "care to explain?"

"I uh... Coach Cummings." I explain though my breaths. And his expression changes, he nods approvingly. Everyone knows how hard Coach Cummings is on her cheerleaders. I immediately break eye contact from him and stumble to the back of the room, I take a seat next to Louis and I feel his eyes set on me. The teacher begins rambling on about WWII and everyone is taking notes, but I'm so tired so I just sit there in the back, thinking. Halfway through the period, Louis hands me a bottle of water and I thank him immensely and gulp it all down, but it still isn't enough. I don't think I can ever have enough water right now. I have time to re-do my hair because it looks absolutely horrendous and the bell rings, releasing us into the hallway.

"Jen." Lou rushes up next to me in the hallways, "what happened to you?" He asks, stepping alongside me. I'm still completely exhausted, I probably will be all day,

"I really don't feel like talking about it." I sigh and turn the corner. I basically run into Alyssa, literally, and she just looks me up and down. A smirk slides across her lips, seeing how horribly I'm dressed, and she just nods in approval before she continues walking.

"What was that all about?" He asks, a worried look on his face. I can't take this right now. I can't control myself and suddenly I just blurt out,

"What the hell does it matter to you, Louis? Why the hell do you care?" I stomp off ahead of him and, instead of going to second period, I make my way out the back of the school and just sit outside the door, using one of my cheer shoes to prop it open so I can make it back inside. No matter how hard I try to, I can't resist the urge to cry. Tears begin flooding down my face and I just wipe them away as fast as possible.

Suddenly someone kicks the door open very forcefully and my heart stops, knowing I've been caught or something.

"Oh." I hear a male voice say, "I thought I'd be alone out here." I finally look up into a pair of perfect blue eyes. They remind me of Niall's..

"I uh..." I begin to respond, but I see his expression change, seeing the tears on my face.

"The name's Luke." He gives me a soft smile and slides his back down the wall right beside me.

"I'm Jennifer." He looks me up and down, taking in my full appearance while he plays with his lip ring.

"Jennifer. Jennifer. You're that cheerleader!" I laugh a tiny bit and lay my head against the wall behind me.

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

"Nah, you're the best one on the squad. Everyone knows it." I give a small smile and stare into his eyes once again.

"Wow, thanks..." He nods and stares out at the parking lot.

"So what brings you out here, Jen? Shouldn't you be with all your friends?"

"The cheerleaders aren't exactly my friends." I respond, dryly.

"Not them. I mean the boys, y'know Harry, Marcel, Zayn."

"Oh... I just uh... I'm not having the best day." I sigh and his eyes flicker back over to me. A smirk slithers onto his lips and I laugh in return. "Why do you keep doing that?" I demand.

"Doing what?" He turns his body to face me fully.

"That! Smirking at me." He licks his lips and raises one eyebrow,
