the last few days, zach and estelle had called each other almost every night. spending the time getting to knew each other better than what they already did. and she was enjoying every second of it, despite the lingering feeling in the back of her mind that it was going to leave her heartbroken.
either way, they had the trip booked, and she did want to see where things do go.
since it was tuesday, estelle had no classes and had finished work for the day, she had gone out for a causal lunch outing with florence — who had already completed her class for the day.
being greeted with a hug, the two ordered a meal before finding a table to sit as they caught up with what they had been up to since last seeing each other on saturday morning.
"so what's the la plan?" the elder of the two then questioned. "what should we tell the parents?"
"i was thinking about it.. cause like i do want my parents to know we're in la just like incase like anything happens.. and i was thinking maybe we could say it's something for your film studies?"
"that's a good idea," she nodded. "i could say i have some ideas to shoot and we could do it here but also a fun trip to la is exciting."
"mh, yeah.."
"i can come with you to talk to them with you if you'd like? but they seemed to be okay with the last trip there, so hopefully this time wouldn't be any different- well i guess school's on, but they never care where you complete your classes."
"no, no, it should be good.."
".. are you scared about it?"
"a little.."
"in what way? like seeing him.. lying to your parents.. what might have between you and him..?"
"i don't know," estelle slightly sighed.
"i don't think your parents would care if you were doing normal twenty year old things, going on dates, meeting guys.. falling in love.. it's better than drinking or doing drugs.."
"mh.. i don't think they care," she softly shook her head. "cameron asked at lunch the other week when i'm going out on a date and mom and dad didn't try and shut it down so.."
"cameron's your...? remind me again, please."
"oh, sister's boyfriend."
"right, yep, i remember," she nodded.
".. it's more like.. zach.. that's scary.."
"it is scary meeting guys for the first time, don't worry, especially ones from apps.. but dylan and i will be there with you and we can even all hang out till you're comfortable- and if he doesn't respect that, he doesn't deserve you and we're going to go find some fun to do in la without him."
".. he seems like a nice guy," florence continued since the other only quietly hummed in response. "and even if you're scared, you should still go through with it, because it's not everyday you get to hang out in a supposedly fancy house overlooking la with a 'famous' ex-boyband member."
"i guess so," estelle said with a smile creeping onto her face as she fiddled with her hair.
"no matter what happens.. we're. gonna. have. a. fun. weekend. okay?"
"okay," she nodded.
"now tell me how things have been go.."
and as prompted, estelle happily babbled on to her friend all about how her and zach's conversations had been going lately, before their lunch being brought over to the table had minimised it slightly.
but florence could tell she was happy, probably close to the happiest she ever seen the girl since meeting the year prior. so she willing to help her and convince her in order to keep that same smile on her face.

author's note, most people go out on friday nights.. me tho? i stay at home karaoke session in my bedroom while writing chapter for you all🙂↕️ (i'm literally going out the next two days lol)
also sorry for the shorter chapter BUUUTTTT i've got the next few chapters planned already!! just gotta write them
