Chapter 12

The headlines read the arrest of Billy Bob Bodine and his family, as well as all who were involved in his moonshine racketeering. A picture showed the mugshots of Billy Bob and his sister, Jolene, and was slapped on the front page. A crime family was taken down! And it was all thanks to (F/N) (L/N)!

At least, that's what the headlines say. It wasn't revealed publicly, but it was the mayor himself who had put the plan together to take them down, and Juggs was the officer in charge of this operation. It was going to be Juggs herself that would've gotten the evidence, but (F/N) stepped in and did it himself. It was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one to Juggs. Though it involved a rather intense session between the two of them, all to make it look more convincing, it was one that both sides rather enjoyed. They were happy about it. So there were no complaints.

Meanwhile, the mayor was furious. He was mad that (F/N) got the headlines and not himself. It was his plan! What made it worse was that Mrs. Cockleone had visited him, telling her how disappointed she was about the mayor's lack of appearance in this matter. She posed that if he was there as well, then he might've gotten the recognition he thought he deserved, but alas it was all for naught.

(F/N) wasn't sure how to entirely approach his name coming up in the news again. After all, the first time he did this, he was ostracized by the other officers. While he enjoyed the time he spent with Juggs, he wasn't sure if it furthered their relationship. Were they at that point right now, after the mission, or were they still in a work-related...relationship.

Things were certainly awkward between the two of them, but nothing that jeopardized their work ethics. Anytime the two of them were together, it felt as if their small talk leaned into the idea that they were dating, and any compliments they gave each other was followed with a quick "platonically speaking" response. He would sneak some glances at her from time to time, and she would do the same.

Neither could really cope with what they have done, and it didn't feel right to them. They were having sex for the purpose of completing a mission, not because they enjoyed it. It was a business-related transaction that served to convince the Bodines that they were what they claimed to be; a stripper and a wealthy customer.

What were they to do now? Come together and try again? They felt that even if they did try again, it would just end the same way.

(F/N) sat at his computer and stared at the screen. After having finished all the paperworks from his arrests today, he sat there and pondered on what he would do before he headed out again to patrol the streets. He leaned to writing an email, but he would still be confronted by Juggs, like the first time he emailed her a question.

He thought to himself on that, Maybe that's what she was trying to teach me that day. He leaned back in his chair and sat straight, looking ahead.

There have been some instances where he would step up, but those were in situations where civilians were in danger. Outside, he was this meek officer who couldn't ask someone questions face-to-face if it was something personal, he always turned to others. Upon his first date with Juggs, he figured he would need to learn to become this better man.

After all, his father didn't look to someone else when he would ask his mother to marry him ((F/N)'s mother, not the father's mother). If he were to become like his father, then he would need to get used to speaking to someone face to face on personal matters.

So if he was going to confront Juggs on this, he would need to do it face to face. If she wants to explore this relationship a bit more, then so be it! But if she chooses not to, then that's fine. There's communication, there's dialogue between the two of them, they can talk things over like the adults they are!
