Shorty and Emily rushed from the Temple of Doom, following the fiery chasm. The complex was trembling as the earth shook. The lava sloshed and sputtered, tossing like ocean waves.

"It's just a guess," Emily explained, "But I'm certain this is the same chasm that Dad and I encountered the serpent throne guardian Destroyer in."

Shorty ran beside her, eyeing the chasm. "Should we be so close?"

"Got no choice!" Emily winced, holding her side.

"Are you all right?" Shorty asked.

"I'm bleeding. That happens to women - frequently." Emily's weary voice tinged with sarcasm.

A column crashed, Shorty swept Emily out of the way. He lunged sideways as the column careened into the fiery chasm.

Emily stared up at him. "I wouldn't have moved quickly enough..."

"No. I reopened the wound when I went after Mola Ram," Shorty answered. "And you've lost a LOT of blood. And it's still bleeding. Last wound I saw like that killed a man... Alfie, one of my crew got hit with shrapnel... before the apkallu ate them alive as human sacrifices."

"Good thing I'm not one of those," Emily smiled. Then she hissed.

"Drop the facade, Emily." Shorty moved to stop her.

"It's worse if I stop. Gotta keep the adrenaline going. It hurts less that way." Emily forced herself up the ziggurat complex's inner stairs. "C'mon - this way!"

Emily started climbing the stairs toward the inner sanctum. "We'll have to figure out a way through the necromanteion, since it partially collapsed with me in it."

"I can solve that."

They turned to the familiar voice - holding two of the seven swords of Diya.

"Lizavet?" Shorty and Emily both asked.
