Peter Pan | To Neverland

Chapter 6

Mirell and Peter both turn their gazes towards Nevaeh. Mirell pulls her hand out of Peter's grasp and runs to her.

"Nevaeh! It's..." Mirell starts.

But she is cut off by Peter quickly flying to the two of them, pushing Mirell behind him and making Nevaeh gasp with fear as he holds his knife to her neck.

Mirell quickly moves so she's standing in front of Nevaeh. Peter is forced to take the knife from Nevaeh's neck, but he still holds it up.

"Peter, what are you doing?" Mirell asks him, looking terrified at his sudden behaviour.

"She's a grown-up! Grown-ups are pirates, and pirates are our enemy!" Peter explains, still holding his knife up, pointing at Nevaeh with it.

"She's not a pirate, Peter! She's my friend. Her name is Nevaeh," Mirell attempts to calm him down.

Peter glares at Nevaeh for a moment, still not trusting her. She looks back at him, her heart pounding at the realisation that this boy nearly killed her. He looks back at Mirell, who is looking back at him with a pleading and terrified expression. After a moment, he puts away his knife. This is a sign to Mirell that he has calmed down. She then turns to Nevaeh.

"Nevaeh, meet Peter Pan," Mirell says as she smiles.

Peter has his hands on his hips as he stands there, staring at Nevaeh.

"Peter pan?" Nevaeh questions.

Mirell nods, her smile growing wider.

"What does he want? Why is he here? How did he even get in here?" Nevaeh asks.

"He can fly, Nevaeh! He got in from the window and he's here to take us to Neverland! Right, Peter?" Mirell asks as she turns to look at Peter.

"What? Bring a grown-up to Neverland?" Peter asks as he looks at Mirell like she's insane.

"She means no harm, Peter. She's not like the others," Mirell tries to convince him.

He looks at Nevaeh again. Nevaeh, who's still a little shaken by the fact that he almost tried to kill her, looks at him with a nervous smile.

Peter looks back at Mirell.

"Fine. She can come," he says, crossing his arms.

Mirell chuckles as she runs towards her brother's beds and stops right between them.

"Could John and Michael come too?" she asks Peter.

Peter looks at the snoring boys. He then looks at Mirell and forces a smile, silently saying that they can come.

Mirell chuckles and jumps with excitement as she goes to shake Michael.

"Michael! Michael!" Mirell says.

She then turns and shakes John.

"John! John!"

"I didn't do it!" John yelps as he wakes up.

Mirell turns to look at Peter as she fixes her hair.

"There is a boy here who is to teach us to fly," she says with a wide smile and excitement.

Peter, who is standing in front of John's bed, his hands on his hips, smiles at the boys.

"You offend reason, sir," John say as he looks at Peter, not believing it.

Peter's smile fades.

"I have to agree. Logically, it's impossible for a human to fly," Nevaeh says.

Michael nods in agreement.
