Act 1: The Oblivious Freshmen

Chapter 1: Move In Day

(Jiavanni's POV)

University Of West Ladera

Location: West Parking Lot

9:30 AM

The sun glared down as I parked my car in the university lot, the air thick with excitement and nerves. This was it-my first day at the University of West Ladera. I grabbed my phone, swiping to my horoscope app, eager to see what the universe had in store for me.

"Gemini: Embrace new beginnings. Today brings fresh opportunities for growth," it read. I smiled, the words igniting a spark of determination within me.

As I wrestled with the heavy suitcase in my trunk, a familiar voice broke through the chatter of students.

"Jia!" Emryniah barreled toward me, her bantu knots shining with every step. Before I could react, she threw her arms around me, squeezing the air from my lungs.

"Em! I missed you!" I laughed, my heart racing. She always had that effect on me-full of energy, ready to take on the world.

"Let's get you in there!" She pulled back, her brown eyes gleaming with excitement. Together, we maneuvered a jumbo blue moving bin to the trunk.

I handed her the keys, and she grinned mischievously. "I got this," she said, popping open the trunk. The door creaked as it revealed the chaos of my life packed into that small space. We started to fill it with everything from clothes to towels to textbooks.

"Watch it; don't drop my favorite hoodie!" I warned, half-joking.

"Oh please, this?" She held up our high school sweatshirt, the one I had worn through countless late-night study sessions in high school.

"Okay, maybe not that one." I chuckled, shaking my head as she tossed it into the bin.

We started unloading the trunk, Emryniah tossed items to me while I stacked them neatly in the bin. I caught a glimpse of students milling about, their laughter and chatter echoing across the lot.

"Can you believe we're finally here?" I asked, a mix of disbelief and thrill bubbling in my chest.

Emryniah nodded, her face lit up with enthusiasm. "This is just the beginning. We're going to love this place!"

I grinned, feeling the weight of my past fade away, if only for a moment.

After we finished unloading, I felt a rush of excitement as I hefted the last of my bags out of the trunk. The campus buzzed around us, alive with the sounds of laughter, chatter, and the occasional yelp when someone lost their grip on a box. Emryniah squeezed me tight before pulling back.

"Ready to tackle our first day as college girls?" she asked, already snagging my blue bin from me.

"Let's do it," I replied, matching her energy.

We strolled across the sprawling campus, dodging fellow freshmen wrestling with their belongings and getting annoyed at their parents. A few feet away, a girl tripped, sending a cascade of bags tumbling to the ground. A guy nearby laughed, reaching out to help her gather the mess. The sight made me chuckle, even as I tightened my grip on my own things.

"Welcome to college," Emryniah said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Chaos is the first lesson."

"Emry, you've only been here an extra day." I say laughing at her boldness. "You don't know the place."
