Hello Innions! It's Jeonginiee_16 from Instagram. After a full year of people asking me to open a Wattpad account, I finally decided to do it. I'll most likely be writing horror stories on here, and maybe some stories that wouldn't be suitable for posting on Instagram.
With that being said, this is the first horror fic that I've written, and it's based off the movie 'Smile' and a popular Japanese urban legend. This story contains depictions of blood, violence, and suicide. If this makes you uncomfortable, I highly recommend not reading it!
Enjoy!
The unnerving sound of a clock ticking on the wall...The plush seat that you sat in. It had been awhile since you felt a little peace in your chaotic life, but you knew...This wasn't going to last very long.
Your therapist, Dr. Choi walked into the room, her wedge heels silenced by the soft, white carpet. She noticed that you had your finger in your mouth chewing to suppress the feelings of nervousness and uneasiness.
"Thank you for coming in y/n... It's been quite some time since the last time I saw you..."
"F-four years...Two months, and 12 days... Precisely..." You said. Ever since you found your father's lifeless body in his bed, you've kept track of everything. The time always had to be known, dates, everything.
"Right...So...What brings you in today?"
You continued to bite your nail, a shaky breath exiting your lips as your mind went back to a couple days ago. That image...Just everything that has happened... It's deteriorating your mind, body, and soul.
"Uhm...I guess... I'll explain..."
"Dr. Moon, Didn't I tell you to go home an hour ago?"
Your supervisor, Dr. Bahng, walked into your office, his arms folded. Everyday was the same, you always overworked yourself, but never minded the fact. Your job was to help patients. You were always there during the roughest parts of their life.
"Sorry Dr. Bahng, just finishing up this latest patient's file... I'll be leaving soon."
Dr. Bahng nodded, closing the door to my office quietly. I typed out the rest of the file and submitted everything, shutting down my computer before heading out.
As I walked home though, I noticed something...Different.
The atmosphere around me..It felt heavy...Like you knew something bad was going to happen soon.
I tried to shake off the eerie feeling and continued walking. As I was walking, a taller man accidentally bumped into my shoulder, causing me to almost lose my footing.
"Oh ..I apologize ma'am."
I looked at him and noticed he was wearing a black mask. It wasn't a medical mask though...It seemed as if it was...Sewn into his skin...
"It's alright...Have a good nigh-"
The man suddenly grabbed my arm tightly, inflicting a small amount of pain.
"Do you think I'm pretty?"
I attempted to pull away, but his grip only tightened.
"Excuse me? Let me go!"
"Do you think I'm pretty?"
I continued to attempt to pull away but it was no use, only causing the man to move closer to me.
"I can smell your fear...Your trauma...How was it, finding your daddy dead in his bed, hm?"
My eyes widened at his terrifying words. Nobody knew anything about my past...How could a stranger know so much?
"How the fuck do you know that?"
The man chuckled, leaning close to my ear.
"I live off of fear... I've been watching you for a long time y/n...Now I finally have you..."
He released me from his grip, his hand slowly going up to the mask covering the lower half of his face. He pulled on it, the stitching coming apart from his skin. Blood poured out as he revealed his terrifying features.
His smile...It wasn't normal. There was nothing pleasant about it. There were knife marks cut across his cheeks to make his smile appear wider.
"I'll ask you again y/n...Am I pretty?"
I backed away, my scream getting caught in my throat. There were other people around but they didn't stop walking. Did nobody else see him? My heart beat rapidly against my ribcage as I took off running, desperate to get away from whoever..Or whatever this thing was.
"You can never escape me. I'll be here until the end."
His voice was ringing in my head. Maybe I was seeing things again and it had gotten worse...If only I knew how wrong I was.
Present Day
"So that's exactly what happened y/n? And nobody saw anything?"
"Yes, yes! I told you! This man...This fucking...Thing, it's engraved itself in my mind and I can't-"
"Calm down y/n...Deep breaths like before..."
I nodded, taking several deep breaths to calm my speeding heart. I looked around nervously...I could feel his presence...He was enjoying this...Enjoying me falling apart from reality.
"Um...I was just wondering...If you could put me back on my... Prescription..."
Dr. Choi tilted her head to side, sighing deeply.
"I don't think that's the best option for right now... Considering your family has a history of addiction among other-"
"I'm a fucking doctor! I know that, but I won't get addicted! Just please..."
I covered my mouth, as tears began to run down my face.
"Just please, Dr. Choi...I need this medicine..."
There was an unnerving silence between us as I waited for Dr. Choi's answer.
"Can I just ask you one final question, y/n?"
"Um...Go ahead..."
Dr. Choi stood up slowly, a grin forming on her face as she approached me.
"N-no....No, no, no..."
"Am I pretty?"
To be Continued...
