Panic in the sky

This sword, i have not held this old partner in some good years now.

"I understand that you have your responsibility with this family old man, but do you really have to go with us when i'm already here?" A squad of holy knights is nothing to scoff at, but must really be 30 of them here?

"Sir Roger, my word is set in stone, must rescue my lord even if my life is at stake. Nothing will make me change my mind." He looks down at me from his prized horse with this expression of helplessness as always, he might be strong but he was always too passive with matters regarding the heart.

"Whatever, but at least get yourself a horse like we did."

With a last look at the blade of my beloved old partner i draw a sigh in resignation, reminiscing of how much lord Tyler liked training in the backyard as a little child, how come he grew up to be such a cold and relentless man?

"The way is not so far that i need a horse to keep myself from getting exhausted, let's go without further delay."

We march towards the field where the opressive building has appeared, the cold despite the warm sun above us is for sure a signal to how unnatural of an occurrence is before us.

"Even if we are prepared to face off against any sort of rogue or bandit that is sure to appear, i truly believe that we must have brought Sir Deacon with us, since we do seen to be facing something that deals with magic." If i was not so eager to head right into the fortress, i might have waited for more time for preparations.

But the image of the fortress from that balcony would not keep me at peace in any given moment i was not talking with Sir Roger...

"Deacon might be a well versed mage, but no holy knight is made of pure brute strength old man, we all know how to perform magic, DON'T WE?!!" As his fist pumps into the air, a unison of the knights voices thunder at my back like lighting in a stormy night.

"You don't have to worry at all, we are more than capable to bring down whatever that fortress have in store for us." Confidence is key to be able to achieve anything, i myself have teached him this lesson when he was training under me. But he always seem to forget that confidence is nothing if you cannot access yourself and the situation.

And no matter how i see it, this situation could not be as grim as the skies turning more and more dark as we approach the building.

When we are already in less than 20 minutes to reach the front doors of the fortress, a massive tremor starts to rumble the ground.

Sir Roger's horse starts panicking and nearly makes him fall down into his back right at the ground with full force, but he gets a strong hold while the men try to do the same.

Before any of us could sheath our swords to face what we thought would be a underground attack, a crack on the ground with gigantic proportions separates us, i see many of the men back down but others are not so lucky and are dragged down to the abyss.

"SCATTER! SAVE YOURSELVES!" Sir Roger shouts as he kicks his horse into the direction of the fortress, me and the men at this side following him with determination to not halt our journey so early.

As the rumbling settles down and we slow our pace to catch some breath, the sky turns blue again at the same speed as it was turning black like the night as it was before.

When the earthquake stops and we take a stop to catch our breath, we look towards where the abyss should be, but there is nothing aside from the blue sky and clouds from where we came from.

"What is happening here? I'm not seeing the others that we've left behind." It could be that we have started floating in the sky, but the amount of magic and...

No, with what have been happening these last days i shouldn't doubt anything anymore, that would be foolish of me.

"Men! Defensive formation 4!" As soon as Sir Roger shouts the last order, the remaining soldiers put themselves in their places and walk towards the fortress that is not so distant anymore, anticipation making all of us sweat.

A short road of bricks is before us when we spot a individual at the distance, his features not quite visible from the distance we have stopped to make a offensive formation, Sir Roger stepping forward as we approach with caution.

"No matter what happens, no relaxing until the very end." With my hands already gripping at the sword handle, when we step right in the circle at the front door of the castle, the individual that was sitting with his arms crossed jumps as he thrown away his cloaking, revealing his muscular build and colorful attire, a tight yellow costume with a blue spider at the chest with green gloves and boots, his face concealed with a mask clearly alluding to spider fangs.

The figure lands at the center of the stage, our swords ready to cut him down, then he bows towards us before speaking with enthusiasm and excitement.

"Salutations friends, i am Super Miranha, and if you wish to enter the castle send your strongest warrior and all of you shall pass!" He then cross his arms, a crowd of different creatures get us surrounded as we enter defensive formation 2.

"Of course, if ye want to brute force through my little test, we are more than happy to try a different way. If not, please let your chosen step right in the mark to begin our match." He crosses his arms and waits, a howling wind all that is audible in the distance.

Before we can make any sort of discussion, Sir Roger steps where the so-called Super Miranha indicated with his sword ready to swing.

"I, Sir Roger, shall strike you down!"

The figure gives a deep laugh as he takes a weird low stance, one of the creatures with a hand raised before it gives a booming shout.

"Round one... FIGHT!"
