A few people stood idly at the back, listening to the people on the podium read through their scripts until the awarding ceremony began.

The person at the microphone first announced those who had been awarded first-class merits in their missions, inviting them to come up for their commendations.

Applause erupted as several soldiers in uniforms marched out from below the podium. They performed a series of salutes to the podium and the surrounding area before standing in a row with straightened postures.

Fu Weihao was among them, his military cap pressed firmly on his head, his features sharp and stern. In his military uniform and boots, he appeared even taller and more imposing, standing upright and conspicuous.

Even in front of so many people, he showed no sign of nervousness. His gaze remained fixed straight ahead, avoiding any wandering eyes.

As the leaders read out the names of those who had received first-class merits in the battle, the final name announced was for the Commander-in-Chief to come on stage to present medals to the heroes.

Fu Weihao joined in the applause as everyone clapped.

Once the applause subsided, footsteps approached from the left. Fu Weihao stood in the middle, and the footsteps halted in front of him. He slowly turned his gaze and saw a tall man in military uniform standing to his left, placing a medal on the first recipient.

From his position, he could only see the side profile of the man. The man wore a fitted uniform, with boots that barely reached his ankles, accentuating his tall frame. After placing the medal on the first person and saluting, he finished and moved on.

The man continued to move closer, reaching the second and third recipients, until he finally arrived at Fu Weihao. The bright sunlight illuminated the man's face, revealing a sharply defined profile.

As Fu Weihao recognized the man's face, his heart sank suddenly.

He watched with a troubled expression as the man approached, stopping right in front of him. The man, with an air of solemnity, efficiently placed the medal on him.

Fu Weihao maintained his composed demeanor and returned the salute. The man's gaze was indifferent as he returned the salute and proceeded to the next recipient.

Fu Weihao averted his eyes, not looking at the man again. He lowered his gaze, lost in thought.

"Grandpa, I saw them putting the medal on my dad..." Fu Sui, holding the binoculars, continued to look towards the podium.

Tan smiled and said, "Your dad has done so much; of course, he has a medal."

"But the Commander kept his back to us. I couldn't see his face. I have to keep watching until he turns around to see what he looks like," Fu Sui said, stamping his feet with excitement.

He continued to monopolize the binoculars, keeping his eyes fixed on Fu Weihao.

He watched until the Commander had awarded the last person and turned to stand with the others for a group photo.

Fu Sui finally saw the Commander's face clearly but felt something was off. His smile faded, and he nudged Fu Yu beside him.

He handed the binoculars to Fu Yu, indicating that he should look at the person on the stage.

Fu Yu looked at the man's features through the binoculars. Though slightly puzzled, he remained calm.

Tan, noticing their strange behavior, asked, "What's wrong with you two? Did you see the face?"
