"hey mom.." estelle somewhat awkwardly spoke as she took a seat on the lounge in one of their living room where her mother was watching the tv.

"yes essie?" she turned her attention to the girl since the advertisements were currently playing.

"um you know florence.."

"yeah?" simone nodded.

"and i've mentioned how she does film studies," she received a hum and a repeat of that same action. "um.. would it be okay if me and her.. and dylan, her boyfriend, might come too, um if we go to la for a weekend in a couple weeks?"

"what's the plan?" she furrowed.

"um we were thinking about catching the train thursday night- i'll do my friday class online there, then we'll come back sunday night in time for classes on monday.."

"and what weekend are you planning?"

"um it's the.. fourteenth to the- get home the morning of eighteenth. so we'll only be there for like two and a half days really.."

"mh.. okay," she nodded. "go ask your dad, see what he says."

she quickly agreed as she got back up, heading across the house to the other living room, where her father was watching a different show. estelle had sat down and explained the los angeles trip plan the same way she did to her mother.

"yeah, go have some fun," peter agreed. "no having fun, if you know what i mean.. with boys though. la boys are trouble."

she slightly chuckled. "okay.. thank you."

"what's going on out here?" victoria invited herself to the conversation after partially being able to hear the two chatting from her bedroom.

"i'm planning a trip with friends," estelle simply explained, slightly brushing it off and then headed back through to their mother.

"wait, where too?" she quickly started following the elder.

"la."

"you have school!"

"you two, shh," simone hushed her daughters as she was trying to keep focused on her show. and with the advertisments soon playing, she turned her attention to them. "what's going on?"

"um dad said it was okay for me to go and have some fun," estelle said with a smile. "so are you okay with it?"

"yes, of course," she nodded. "now why have you appeared vicky?"

"tori!" she scoffed, following with a groan.

"sorry, tori, why have you come out of your room, what would you like?"

"i just wanted to know what was going on," she folded her arms. "don't you think it's a little unfair?"

"do i think it's unfair that essie's planning a trip away with her friends, which she's spending her own money on that she's worked hard for and testing her independence as an adult? no victoria, i don't think it's unfair."

"yeah, so? she's going away during the school year, she's should be focusing on her new course after wasting your money on a different one last year."

"she's got it all planned out, you don't need to worry," she replied as she turned her body towards the girl. "and if you want to stand there and try to say it isn't okay to change your mind, when one day you love soccer and the next you want nothing to do with it and pull out of your competitive team, repeatedly, that we have to pay a fee for every time.. be my guest."

"but you know what that means you only get one choice in college that i'll pay for and you must complete the course in full no matter how much you hate it," she continued in annoyance. "so decide... but i suggest you go back to your room and be okay with your adult sister doing whatever it is that she wants."

victoria quietly muttered something under her breath, which prompted a head shake from
their mother as the teen went back to her bedroom and simone turned back to the tv.

"um mom.."

"yes?"

"um.." she took a seat on the lounge and kept her tone somewhat low. "while we're on the topic of college- you're gonna hate me for saying this.. but i- i don't know if i.. like the nursing course.."

"it's barely been two weeks, ess," she said with a small sigh. "give it a chance. do the semester and we'll revisit this conversation."

"okay.. thank you.."

"now.. can i watch my show in peace?"

"yes, yeah, of course," estelle quickly stood back up.
