-Kat-
My eyes widen as I look at the familiar face. His blue eyes also widen as he looks at me. It feels like time slows as I stare up at Blake. I can hear Adam greeting Amelia and Laura next to me but I can't move or blink. He looks a little messier than he did a year ago. His dark hair is longer, some stubble, he never looked good with facial hair. He should shave. He wore a button up Hawaiian shirt almost like the one I was wearing earlier with white shorts that stopped mid-thigh and sneakers. What was he doing here? I know he lives in the neighborhood but I didn't think he'd come. He was never a person that came to this type of stuff.
"Kat." I hear. I snap out of it, looking towards the voice.
"What?" I ask.
"You're staring." Adam whispers. I look back at Laura and Amelia with an awkward smile before looking back at Blake.
"You remember Katie?" Blake asks, motioning next to him. I look, locking eyes with Katie. She was Laura's friends, daughter. She came over a lot with her boyfriend at the time when I lived with Blake to hang out with Dalton. A little weird but I didn't question it. She was pretty with brown eyes and brown wavy hair. She wore a solid black crop top with leggings and nike sneakers. Who wears leggings to a barbecue with a pool? I force a smile at her.
"Nice to see you again." I say. She smiles back.
"You too." She replies.
"You know each other?" Sarah asks.
"I'm going in the pool." I say, walking away before anyone could object. I walk up to Cameron, bending down to his ear. "Swim with me?" I ask quietly. His head turns to me with a grin.
"Of course." He says as he stands up. He takes off his shirt and I do the same, taking off my top and shorts leaving me in my red bikini. Without warning, I'm hoisted in the air. I squeal as Cameron runs towards the pool with me in his arms before we're engulfed by water. It's so cold! I quickly swim up to the surface, Cameron meeting me.
"How is the water so cold?" I ask.
"You're cold?" He asks.
"A little." I reply. He splashes me. Actually splashes me..who does he think he is? I splash him back a little harder. We go back and forth until it becomes a full blown splash war. People are moving away from us as we splash each other.
"Cannonball!" I hear before we're all splashed by water from Adam jumping in the pool directly next to us.
"Asshole!" I yell.
"I win." He says with a smirk when he reaches the surface. I roll my eyes.
"You weren't even in this."
"Now I am." He says as he grabs me, throwing me backwards into the water. As I swim back to the surface, I hear the rest of the boys jump in around me.
"Chicken!" Luke yells.
"No." I protest.
"Are you still salty from last time?" He smirks. I cross my arms over my chest.
"No." He takes a step closer to me.
"It seems like you are."
"Fine. Bring it." I say. He laughs obnoxiously. Him and Adam fist bump and I swim over to Cameron. He gets under the water so I can get on his shoulders. I wrap my leg around his head before doing the same with the other. He stands up, holding my thighs in place and I grip his head as he laughs.
"I'm not going to drop you." He says.
"Better not." He walks towards a very unbalanced Luke attempting to hold up Adam. "This should be easy." I smirk. Luke closes the gap between us and I look at Adam.
