hiding, crawling, cowering. a girl, alone or just lonely?
shes watches from afar, lingering above in an empty timeless space
checking the boxes as she walks that line, afraid to color outside the perfect little square her life supposedly fits into.
check one box check two but don't check three, run, walk, but don't swerve and don't curve
beware of the monster that hides behind the bush.
look in the mirror but don't look too long, you'll be caught on the little things, you hold not so dear
don't let them look too closely they might see behind the facade.
lead them away from what hides behind the bush
looking in the mirror is a face she doesn't recognize, what scares her most are the glaring glowing eyes.
tear stained cheeks and pulled up corners of a pale white mouth.
blood stained sleeves and hoodies she never takes off
perfect like the corners of her neatly made bed, perfect like the chipped nail polish on the nearly bleeding fingernails bit so short.
the corners of her neatly made bed, aren't so perfect, look closely and wrinkles are too prominent. look closely and sheets hang too far out on one side rather than the other side.
check one box, check two and go ahead and check three. the lid that once kept the little perfect square from over flowing, is now broken, gone.
the mirror she looks into is stained as well, chipped and cracked even, scratched with no way of being made new.
its not the glowing eyes that scare her the most anymore, its the unpredictable imperfectly perfect green eyes that stare back.
the smile that could be considered a possibility of normalcy.
what once could've been deemed as an entity. a clone living the life she so desperately longed to live. the monster she tried so hard to hide behind a bush, a tree, a pole, has been made shown. coming out of the shadow. its not a monster, its well, her, misunderstood and tossed aside because she is good. she is small but her spirit is big towering out of the dark that's the "monster" they fear.
so check one box and check two, then check three and check four. check all that apply
